This is beautiful. My godfather brought back handkerchiefs from Japan, WWII, for my godmother. I inherited these handkerchiefs. This is a great idea. Thank you.

That is beautiful! My mother had tons of hankies when she was alive. I don't know if one of my sisters held on to them or if they got tossed. I think I'm going to have to ask.

This is a lovely quilt. Gives me a great idea for a place for all the hankies I have that belonged to my grandmother.

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks so much for posting this. I have a box-full of my grandmother's hankies and I've been keeping them because I knew I'd find something to do with them eventually. Well, they look wonderful in the quilt, so now I know how to use them!

Beautiful quilting job by the way!

NikkiLu 11-21-2010 06:31 PM

Could you please tell us how the hankies are fastened to the quilt blocks? Are they sewn down with a fancy stitch or a zig zag stitch, etc?

hperttula123 11-21-2010 06:32 PM

omg....that is just beautiful. I'll be on a search for hankies now.

hcarpanini 11-21-2010 06:34 PM

I have the Handi Quilter Fusion longarm. Totally free motion quilting.

She used an almost satin stitch. Not quite as tight as usual.
