Double Wedding Ring Quilt
1 Attachment(s)
A couple years ago my DH requested that I make another DWR quilt. When I was a fairly new quilter I made a DWR quilt and it turned out just OK. When DH requested another one, I told him I would do it after I retired. It took me about six months after I retired before I started it. I worked on it off and on for a little over a year, and finished the flimsy Friday. For this quilt I used my AccuQuilt Go cutter and followed the directions on U-Tube posted by Ebony Love. This quilt went together much better than my first. Her directions were so clear and easy to follow. My DH has now told me what fabric he would like the next DWR quilt made from! LOL I plan on using my Ruby Deluxe to quilt in the center sections.

Looking good. Someday I want to make one. I will be interested to see it quilted.

I like the fabrics you chose. They have a thirty's feel look about them. It looks beautifully pieced. Well done. I have made 3 so far since quilting from the 80's. I have used 2 different methods. Not really keen to do another, but if my husband wanted one of-course I would reconsider!

Very Pretty! I have always wanted to make one. Thanks for the you tube reference, I'll have to look that one up.
|
I think I would be getting him his own machine.
|
That is sooooo pretty!

#1 - he would want to use MY fabric and more important #2 - he would probably stop cooking! |
Absolutely beautiful.
|
Beautiful quilt! One of these days I'll make one!

Your quilt is beautiful! Those AcuQuilt's are great, I love mine. Nice that your hubby appreciates quilting, especially when he's doing the cooking :)
|
Beautiful!! Did you piece this by hand?
|
Stunning quilt...and more than worth the wait. DWR is one i have never attempted....but my Secret Santa sent me a mini pattern this year and i am determined to give it a go. Your beauty is definitely incentive to try. Thanks for sharing.

Love it! So happy to hear you used the GO. I bought the die and have been put off trying it. It is even better to know the video was most beneficial.

Very pretty quilt. I love the colors.

This is very beautiful. I started one a few years ago and it was so hard for me I just gave up on it. One of these days I will pull it out and try again after I watch some tutes. Thank you for posting.

Lovely quilt. Gosh you 've made two and DH want you to make another one! If it were me I would teach him to sew and let him make the next one. I've only made one and don't plan to make another one, at least not for ten - twenty years from now, I'm 70 and by then, I'll be gone and someone else can make it. At least we both prefer stitching by machine, I'm with you the only hand stitching is the biding and I hate doing that. But when I've tried machine stitching for a binding it does not satisfy me, so I keep drudging along with the hand stitching. I didn't read you post about his cooking, I'm with you I wouldn't want him to stop his cooking I hate to cook, but I would postpone the next quilt for a long time down the road and tell him you want to try out new patterns.

absolutely beautiful... your colors are very pretty and I like that it hangs well over the side of the bed. Great job!
|
It looks great!

Thank you for all the nice comments on my DWR. I am already thinking of the next one, but will finish quilting this one first. Plan on doing the next one as a Leaders/Enders project. I must say, this one wasn't nearly as difficult to make as the first one I did. Ebony Love just kept saying that making this quilt was not a race and to slow down your machine. I kept hearing the little voice in my head and that really helped. Gerbie, I don't mind doing the hand stitching on the bindings as I do it when I watch TV or use it as a project when we travel. There will be a few more quilt patterns to do before my next DWR, but I am already thinking of it.
