My first Dresden Plate Block! And my first time using applique! Two firsts in one! Now... do I keep making more blocks for a quilt? Or leave well enough alone and make a pillow or wallhanging. :)

nativetexan 07-22-2011 07:46 AM

Oh, nice!! i've yet to make one myself. keep going hon.

Sweeterthanwine 07-22-2011 11:10 AM

Dresden is one of my all time favorites. I would keep going if I were you and make enough to make at least a lap quilt. What you have done is beautiful.

Jingle 07-22-2011 11:46 AM

Beautiful block, please make enough for a quilt, it will be gorgeous.

MellieKQuilter 07-22-2011 12:04 PM

Ok... so, I used scraps for this one, can I just keep going with other black, red and white fabrics? Use the same colors but different fabrics? ANd for the background, it was a white on white fabric, can I mix and match that as well?

blueangel 07-22-2011 12:16 PM

Cute, keep going

Sallyflymi 07-22-2011 12:55 PM

Don't stop now. You are on a winning streak. Can't wait to see the finished quilt.

xsquilter 07-22-2011 01:08 PM

This is nice! Yes, do more! It will be a fantastic quilt.

Pretty.

mom-6 07-22-2011 06:22 PM

Lovely! It's your quilt so decide the look you want to create. It would be really cool to continue with your color scheme in a variety of fabrics. If it were me I'd continue with the white on white background, but you could use several different white on whites if you so desire.
Or you can go with totally scrappy and use lots of different colors.
Your quilt, your call.

Latrinka 07-22-2011 07:23 PM

You gotta keep going! That's just too pretty! Love me some dresden plates!

homecaregiver 07-23-2011 02:59 AM

why stop with just one, keep going and you will not only gain enough blocks for a quilt but also more practice on your appliqueing etc. Very good work for your first one.

Good job keep going. Make a queen size.

the old one 07-23-2011 03:50 AM

If it is the first plate block, I would make a pillow, and then cut lots of pieces and do a quilt!! piecefully, the old one

pscott392 07-23-2011 03:55 AM

You did a great job. Go for broke - do an entire quilt.

Maureen 07-23-2011 04:21 AM

I'm going to try one of these. I just bought a Dresden Plate template. I never did applique either. I just watched a great tute by Elinore Burns. I say keep going.

misscarol 07-23-2011 04:26 AM

Make more!!!

gramquilter2 07-23-2011 08:09 AM

Nicely done. It would make a great quilt.

dphelps 07-23-2011 08:12 AM

Very nice. I love this pattern. It is really up to you as to what to do next. Maybe you should just keep in mind that you know how to make the Dresden Plate and maybe you will at some point find the "perfect" fabric or maybe the "perfect" person to make another project using this pattern.

SnowQuilt 07-23-2011 08:51 AM

Looks great. I would keep going. :)

Sewfine 07-23-2011 09:07 AM

Looks good. I would keep going.
