I decided to go scrappy with left over pieces from a BH MQ that I didn't use.
It will be a companion quilt for the MQ .

Really distinctive! I like it quite a lot. Very clever of you in your designing. Martie in CA

I made a smaller quilt as DH didn't like it at all. So the original MQ was made into a lap quilt to curl up in rather than the regular size.

Love it!!!

What is an MQ?

An MQ is a term for a Mystery Quilt. It is a quilt that is created based on clues to make blocks that are given at certain time intervals ( daily, weekly, monthly) with the final unveiling of the entire quilt shown at the end of the clues. As you complete the clues, you have no idea as to the quilt outcome.

What a great use of those leftovers. I could see it as the back of the MQ also, but as a 2nd quilt it's great also. Love to see how you quilt this one.

AnnT 01-18-2015 03:45 AM

That's great. Love the name.

twinkie 01-18-2015 04:50 AM

Love the black background. Both are beautiful.

Yes. I ended up making a lap sized version of her MQ.

Losing it with all these abbreviations......MI,BH,MQ.....??

GI is for Grand Illusion, the name of Bonnie Hunter's (BH) 2014 winter mystery quilt(MQ). She is a quilt designer, who tends to design quilts with scraps and color play. Her mystery quilt started the Friday after Thanksgiving with a clue given every Friday until New Year's Day - the final reveal. It was a unique quilt but not for everyone.

kiffie2413 01-18-2015 05:38 AM

Love it!!
