Bobbi

I would use a bright color for sashing and then a black border and perhaps colored borders. Just play with it and see what you like.

QuiltnNan 03-24-2011 05:22 AM

I'm so envious! That is a wonderful panel!!!!

CajunQuilter2 03-24-2011 05:25 AM

AWESOME!!!

mommamac 03-24-2011 05:50 AM

I would use black & white with panels to make quilt front, perhaps attic windows.
For the back I would make the blocks shown in the panels & have a reversible quilt.

CarrieAnne 03-24-2011 05:53 AM

Great find!

The first thing that came to mind is to find matching picture frames and hang them on the wall in the formation you showed - they'd make a great decoration for your quilting room!
(Being a painter, I might try to 'enhance' them with a bit of fabric paint as well)

Very nice panels. I would build around them with nice patches, squares and other blocks. I love working with panels. Cut them apart and re position among the "other" blocks that you make. Maybe something scrappy.

Thanks so much everyone. I would love to see pics of what you did with yours. I have so many ideas running thru my head right now of what to do with them. I have thought about the attic window idea. I'll just leave them the way they are for now, something will come up and it will be my "AHHHH haaaa" moment!

I used to have some of those panels and they were when the liquid embroidery pens were in "vogue". Can't quite remember the name but they used to host parties & sell them in tubes with a thick ballpoint type of nib.
Have fun with your new toys.

What a great panel. I've never seen anything like that. Will make a wonderful quilt.

boohoofish 03-24-2011 07:09 AM

My thoughts exactly - black and white/cream and making blocks that are shown in the quilts.

I have not read every page here, but
I would find out how old this panel is
and what company made them.......If they
are antique you may want to handle them
differently. They are so cute.

DeeBooper 03-24-2011 01:53 PM

I know what you could do...sell them to me...I love the panels.

roseOfsharon 03-24-2011 02:01 PM

Absolutely a wonderful find! A quilt made from them is going to be quite a treasure. I would stick to muslin or beige to off white sashing and backing, maybe the binding in black.. I so love those blocks!

Alex J 03-24-2011 02:07 PM

Bobbi, I couldn't find any of the little quilts with on the clothes hangers, but here is one with the black binding, and one without a binding and no hanger. I scanned the one without the binding on both sides. Since these blocks are so detailed I am going to post these in the original size so they can be opened enlarged. hope the quilting shows up

I tied a hanger of a white and a black ribbon on the corners. I had to do these on my scanner so the one with the binding was too large to get it all scanned. The binding does show on both sides though.

Barb those are so great. Thanks for taking the time to scan and show and tell for us. You did a great job on yours. I hope mine turn out just as great whenever I get around to doing something with them.

I think your idea is a good one - echoing the designs in each block would be very effective.

Sallyflymi 03-25-2011 03:24 AM

WOW What a great find. Love the prints.Looking forward to see what you did with them.

Tweety2911 03-25-2011 03:36 AM

Tweety2911 03-25-2011 03:38 AM
