I was on my way to get my Daddy to go to the Dallas Quilt show a week or so ago and saw a sign for an Estate Sale. I debated about stopping because I couldn't wait to get to the show. But boy am I glad that I did stop. There was a nice guy that stated the lady that had passed away was a quilter, and I am guessing it was her son, said she did every thing by hand. I found a few small bags of fabric and large bag of patterns. I still have to go through it all and figure out some of the patterns, but I am loving this one panel. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it yet, but I will most definatly use it in a quilt. I got all of it for $9.50. Could not believe it!
Anyone have ideas for a quilt pattern for these panels? Bobbi |
What a lucky find, no idea what you could do but they are very sweet.
those pannels are so special. I'd love to find something like that. congrats!
I would try and make blocks like they are in the quilt on the panel, and put them around the panel to get it as big as you want it. Just an idea, I don't know how big the panels are. But they sure are pretty.

Those pictures are wonderful, how big are they.
very nice find. the panels are beautiful almost tell a story. Nice find :)
Awesome find... I would look on line and see if you can google some old fashion quilts that could have those prints in them... I would defiantly want to use them in something of their period. Great find.
Lucky you, the panels are fantastic, makes me want to paint them with thread(not that I would know how to,just looks like it would be fun to try)
I just love those panels! What a great find.

Really love those panels!! You have to do something to keep them all together! What size are they. They would be perfect for decorating in your sewing room if you have wall space to do it. So glad you stopped at that sale!!

Wonderful panels! They are so pleasing to look at. I would work them into a red, black & white quilt.
lucky lady enjoy --the panels are very tasty!
How pretty they are...I would do as previously suggested and copy some blocks from the quilts in the pictures or maybe as it is old world, just an assortment of traditional blocks. You could stick with the black/white/cream theme or maybe use a touch of colour on the surrounding blocks. Lovely find...I am sure she would be pleased they went to a suitable home.

I love your panels!! You could even just frame them and hang them up if no brilliant ideas come to you.
Awwww, the panels are lovely. Congrats on your great find, Im sure the lady would be glad they have gone to a fellow quilter.
That is awesome!

I would say the same thing as sak658 or put one block right in the center of a quilt and piece a quilt inspired by the one "centered" block which means making ... 6 different quilts or may be 6 different sections of one larger quilt... |
i would do it all in white and black. very nice find
Great find!
Lucky girl!! I'd give my eye teeth to find something like that.
I agree with rearick, looks like story panels to me. Very neat and sure going to make a unique quilt for you. Make sure you play around with them real good before hooking them together, get the best arrangement you can come up with. Lot of good suggestions here.
Wow, you really got lucky with this find!
Kewl find!
Bobbi I love the quilting blocks. I had these panels and sandwiched them with white on the back and hand quilted them to death.:-)
I then cut them apart and used black for a binding. I made little wall hanging with them. hung them on little black clothes hangers I found at Michael's. I still have some of the blocks that I have't done anything with. |
These were made in the early '90s
Love the "Yesteryear" panels..... I went to school with a cousin who lived in Ky. who still attended a "One room" school...back in the late "50's....which was the school my mother went to as a child....was fun and so different from my school here in Ohio
WOW!!! You have something really special !!
Those panels are awesome. Lucky you and great find. I'm thinking they would make an awesome quilt to hang in my "woman cave" (sewing room). You did good!
I would use them as the center of blocks - log cabin, attic windows, stars - to make them big enough at least for a lap quilt. And you would still have the second set in case inspiration struck later! Great find.
OMG! What a great find!
Love love love the panels! Congrats!!
Wow, those panels are awesome. Great find.
Great find. I absolutely LOVE those panels!!
Very cute panels! :)
Wonderful find!
Depending on how big the panels are, sampler bocks and sashing. I did this with a red work quilt. Red work showed process of making a quilt so blocks were samplers going from easy to difficult. Great find. Lucky you! Think about a color to make it pop...narrow border of red?
These panels would make a great black and white quilt! Perhaps use solids so as not to distract from the drawings...
I think you found a treasure!!! Now to find something to do with them..........they are precious...might be neat to sash them in a color and then do a color border and add black and white blocks around that. Good luck and congratulations.
