Great boxes.

Both of you have made great little boxes. I have made one and wasn't totally happy with it. It seems kind of flimsy to me. I used a warm and white batting and am wondering if I should have put some type of stabilizer in to make them stiffer. What did you two put in yours? They are so cute and want to make some more!

Those are really nice and should fetch a good fee.

I think I did four with Hobbs polydown and it was surprisingly stiff enough. I used an 80/20 on two. I did purchase some pellon product to use on future ones and to use in a purse.

Thanks Quilter 65! I just found some pellon here so think I will try it with that.

Took your idea Quilter 65 and used Pellon. I had double sided fusible Pellon Peltex 72F so used that and ironed it between my two pieces of fabric. I didn't use any batting. This allowed me to skip steps 2 through 5 so another bonus. So easy to quilt and fold and I like that it is stands up nice and firm but is still soft.
Thanks again for the idea! This one is a 14 inch and now will try the twelve inch.

Thanks Raksmum for the info. I tried to buy Pelletex but didn't have it at the store where I was. So I did purchase Soft and Supple or something like that. They use it purses, the lady said. So am going to try that next. BTW, your box is beautiful. How big a square on the bottom did a 14-inch square yield? My 12-inc measured almost 6 inches across the bottom. I like the bow. I thought about ribbon etc, but decided I might not tie it so prettily so stuck with buttons. Yours looks like velvet.

My 14 inch (with 3" corners) came out to 5x5. I did a 12 inch (2 1/2 " corners) and it is 4 1/2 x 4 1/2 and my 10 inch
(with 2" corners) ended up 4 x 4. Tacking down the corners and putting on the buttons is what takes all the time. I am going to make a few boxes to that point and then sit down one evening and do the hand sewing on all of them at the same time. I only put the ribbon on this one because in the end I didn't think that button was the greatest so wanted to jazz it up a bit. I hot glued the ribbon on. It's not velvet, just normal 1/4" ribbon. It came on a roll with 3 colors, gold, green and red and I got it at Michaels.

Have fun with the next ones you make!
