These are cute. I hadn't been interested in making postcards till I saw this thread. Just might have to do that for my granddaughter who lives in another state. She's just 1-1/2 right now but it would be a good idea to get a supply made for when she's a little older. Thanks for the idea.

Sue fish, You should do a tute on these beautiful fabric postcards. So colorful.
|
Your postcards are adorable. Will the post office really accept these, or do you have to put them in an envelope and request hand cancelling?
Oops, I should have read further. You answered my question  |
Well, I hope we see a lot of picutres on the baords before too long of all the postcards people make for their grandchildren!!
|
Lovely treasures for her to cherish.
|
How cute. What a great idea.
|
They are very cute
|
They are awesome!
|
Do you put them in an envelope so they don't get dirty or messed up? Hope that isn't a dumb question . . . . . . .!! They are awesome!!
|
Awwww those are pretty
|
How do you make those? They are really cute!
|
So precious for a dear granddaughter. She probably runs to the mailbox to get "her" mail. You are a special grandma.

Thanks...I found lots of info on line...search...how to make fabric postcards and i found enough to get me started..
I build my postcard on a back ground fabric and have used canvas or heavy interfacing under that and when done I glue card stock on the back so I can write on it easily I could mail them but they'd take regular postage and have to be hand canceled but I put them into an envelope so they do not get soiled and I add a lollipop or stickers etc |
Love your postcards!! I took a class through one my quilt guilds last month and made a couple - for me!
But your idea of sending them to your granddaughter is terrific. I only have great nieces at the moment (still waiting for my son to find a nice "someone"!) so I just might have to make a fe and send them one once in awhile as a big surprise - they live in PA and I live in NC. Hope you don't mind if I saved your pictures in my idea file. Thanks, Sandy in Mooresville, NC P.S. this is my very first post!

Did you bind your postcards like we do with quilts? They look like you did - sure does look better than just leaving the edges uncovered. If you did bind them, was it hard to do on such a small item? Thanks - and thank you to everyone for the warm welcome. Sandy in Mooresville, NC (about 2-1/2 hours west of Raleigh) |
OoooOoooo I just love them all! I would like to make some of those too! My sister-n-law is into card making and I think they would be soooo neat to make and send to her!

Lovely! She will cherish these in years to come.

These are darling. My project next year is to make Patriotic postcards using patriotic material, to send to soldiers. I posted a request for anyone's left over patriotic material if they wanted to donate to this project. I am still accepting your donations. This will be with a 5th grade class. By the way, one of you posted me that your Mother wants to do this project with her students. Anyone else interested? PM me

Your postcards are really nice. What a special GM you are.

My grandchildren would just love these, and I'd like to get one or more in the mail, too. I have a new project to work on, it seems. Love them all, particularly the blue with crocheted flower with pearl center. Thanks for the pictures.
|
Very nice! How do you do the binding? Just like a quilt?

Wow! I love these. What a treat!!!

Hi Sue! Yay, your postcards are wonderful! There are so many styles out there and for me it's so inspiring. Thanks for locating your older posting to share yours. I see that you like the clean finished edge, as I do, rather than the satin stitch edge.
