Been working on these 2 quilts for quite some time. Keep stopping and starting something else. Fancy Feathers will have a 4 1/2" white border all around and have a scrappy binding from the same strips as the 1st border.
Purple Waves is ready to sandwich except when I hung it up to take the photo it doesn't seem to be hanging straight. Don't know how to go about correcting the problem. Can you help? Both these patterns were in Australian Patchwork and Quilting Annual 2009. Thanks for looking. Fancy Feathers Purple Waves |

Beautiful!

Are you sure it is not just the "waves" making it look uneven?? Looks good from here LOL! You should probably measure it to see if it is longer or wider in some places and try to make corrections to remedy it.
They are both terrific! Great job! |
Try hanging Purple Waves the horizontal way, or re-measure your quilt dimensions: Center to center; where the border is attached to the patchwork squares; and end to end. See where there is a discrepancy.
|
WOW they are both fantastic.... I love the "Fancy Feathers" that is great.
|
Two very nice quilts. Love the color play in the Feathers one.
|
Great mix of applique and piecing in the first one.
Were the feathers hand or machine appliqued? A ton of work either way. And the wavy log cabin is terrific. eta - I was so enthralled looking at the LC waves I didn't even notice the fabulous applique on the top and bottom. I really, really, like the layout. And the quilt itself looks even to me, even though it might be hanging a bit slanted. |
You created wonderful quilts, thanks for showing :).

WOW! They are both beautiful!

Thanks everyone for your kind comments. I bought the AP&Q magazine because of the Fancy Feathers quilt on the front and knew I HAD to make it even though it was over my head. I did a lot of unsewing but am happy with the end result. I think I am going to have both of these quilted by a pro.
They were made from my scraps, very little cut from yardage and I only machine applique due to a pinched nerve at C4. Again, thanks for everything. |
Way to go Polly!
You're certainly knocking out plenty of those projects! |
