Feeling cheap and getting creative.

I have been trying to branch out from patterns and try to make my own quilts, but also feeling too stingy to try this with good fabric so I bought men's shirts at a thrift store.
Becuase it was only 30 bucks of fabric I also had some fun FMQ on my DM. |
and you made a beautiful quilt !!!
love the way you pieced the stripes to make squares. Great quilt
I love it!! Good for you for trying something different. That's a great idea to use shirts from a thrift store to try something new!
very nicely done and creative, indeed
Wow! I really like your quilt. You did indeed create a wonderful pattern. I especially like your border treatment as it is a perfect complement to the unique squares. Did you have a creative idea in mind when you went shopping in the thrift store or did you just go buy some shirts that appealed to you and then come up with the design? By the way, your FMQ is very nice. I think you are an encourager to others to reach out to new goals in quilting-no matter the budget level. Thanks for sharing with us.

Great job! I love shirt quilts.

You did a fine job as well as demonstrating that not all good quilts are expensive to make.

Your dog seems to approve of the quilt you made. Have you thought of getting Electric Quilt ?? It is an excellent tool for when drafting a new design. I made this quilt for a dear friend who was going thru a difficult time in her life and I wanted this pattern to have a special look. Here is what I created using EQ7 and the quilt (decide on a border width).

Your quilt is innovative, in the design, execution, and quilting.

Your quilt is quite beautiful and the fact that you did it at a low cost really is amazing. Great job! Love it!

Like your quilt and your FMQ is very good.
not bad for 'on the cheap'....great deal on the material for it!!!! I love to see the creativeness with recycling that some of you out there in QB'land do!!
You did a nice job!
Great quilt! It can be done and you proved it. I may have to give this a try.
Great idea to use men's shirts and it turned out awesome. Love the blues and whites and your FMQ.

Great results you are very creative.
It looks great.
That came out beautifully! I love the colors, design and the quilting!
You did an excellent job matching the stripes on those squares! I can't even match stripes on straight grain of fabric, say nothing about bias!
If you spent $30 on shirts, you may want to seek another thrift store -- that seems like a lot to me. I'm lucky enough to have found a thrift shop near my mother's (I visit her two or three times a year) where I can sometimes fill a paper grocery bag for $3 or $4. If they have lots of 100% cotton shirts, I stock up. |
Very nice quilt and quilting. I make up alot of quilts I make for charity.
