Oh, how I love the idea. What a special gift and story to have to pass along to the next generation. Thanks for sharing

Cris 03-01-2011 05:19 AM

Oh, it is beautiful, glad to see it is being used and not sitting on the shelf! Lily is too cute!

chrisqlt 03-01-2011 05:49 AM

It's wonderful to make such a pretty gown from the wedding dress, maybe embroider the baby's name and birthdate in the hem ... you can later add any brothers or sisters she may have. It's an old tradition. Lily is so sweet!

nabobw 03-01-2011 05:59 AM

wonderful

jaymemade 03-01-2011 06:27 AM

Beautiful! I made a couple baby blessing outfits from a wedding dress (for someone else...it wasn't my wedding dress), but yes, it was still hard to make that first cut!

eiltcoq 03-01-2011 06:32 AM

DA Mayer, This is a gorgeous Baptismal Gown. Thanks for sharing. Eiltcoq.

dolores 03-01-2011 06:36 AM

Both are beautiful and priceless

rosemaynes 03-01-2011 06:39 AM

What a beautiful dress for a baptism and what a wonderful place to get the fabric from. 98% of most wedding gowns are not ever worn again what a great use for it. Love it.

CarolynFisJus 03-01-2011 07:01 AM

BEAUTIFULLLLLLLLLLL...

MommaDorian 03-01-2011 07:02 AM

Stunning!!! What a great talent you have.

bamamama 03-01-2011 07:04 AM

It is just beautiful. Now she needs a shadow box with that christening gown along with a pic of the baby in the dress and one of mom in her wedding gown.

sewingsuz 03-01-2011 07:06 AM

Oh my! That is going to be a treasured family heirloom! Just beautiful...and probably will be used by great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.....and on! What a lovely way to use the dress.

mamaw 03-01-2011 07:19 AM

Awww, that is beautiful! My mom gave me my christening gown and hat that was made from her wedding gown. Makes them more special.

SandraD 03-01-2011 09:15 AM

That is so sweet - as is the baby!

katzak 03-01-2011 09:17 AM

I MADE MY SON'S CHRISTENING GOWN FROM MY DRESS AND I'VE NEVER REGRETTED IT. IF ANYONE HAS MADE A QUILT FROM A WEDDING DRESS I'D LOVE TO SEE IT. LUCKY BABY WITH SUCH A TALENTEDGRANDMOM.

dinlauren 03-01-2011 02:11 PM

Gorgeous. If it's going to be passed down to others, it might help to embroider the baby's name and baptismal date on the slip for each baby that uses it.

Grandma Peg 03-01-2011 04:48 PM

Lily is beautiful and so is her baptismal gown.

fabricfairy 03-01-2011 04:54 PM

I did the same with my wedding dress over 40 years ago , for my daughters grown , then when her children were christened 35 years later we used it again , I made a fine cotton petticoat to go under it and embroidered their names on it it looked so lovely , and has been now put away for great grandchildern . Gorgeous and very special

Rachelcb80 03-01-2011 06:03 PM

Oh, what a sweet baby! I showed DH and said, "Loooook". My youngest (out of three) is 2 and though I'm happy with my herd at it's current size, I get a twinge when I see a baby. :)

Gorgeous gown as well. You do very nice work. I don't think I could have brought myself to cut into a wedding dress but thankfully you had your DIL to persuade you. :)

Elisabrat 03-01-2011 06:47 PM

A pair of golden wings and she will easily be mistaken for an angel. What a lovely gift .. the wedding dress was worn on a day celebrating the ultimate of love of her parents and now will be worn again by the angel conceived in love. I think there should be a picture of the momma on her wedding day and one of the baby taken on her baptismal day and both framed as a gift for the parents and one day the child too when she grows older. This is what memories are made of I think.

hperttula123 03-01-2011 07:00 PM

That is beautiful! I would have a hard time cutting that up to, but you did wonderful. :)

kajaza 03-01-2011 07:15 PM

Lovely!

biscuitqueen 03-01-2011 07:17 PM
