Gorgeous quilt. Great job. Two inch strips are perfect for a king. Good luck.

Lori S 02-18-2013 11:12 AM

Your log cabin turned out beautiful. The small strips really help the colors merge.

Divokittysmom 02-18-2013 11:17 AM

Beautiful Log Cabin!! On my 'list'!

nannyrick 02-18-2013 11:30 AM

Beautiful!!! This is on my to do list but have not tried yet. I keep thinking it is too hard.
Even purchased the die from Accuquilt. I know I must try though. Thanks for sharing.

QUILTNMO 02-18-2013 12:07 PM

very nice quilt i like your colors!!!!!

deanneellen 02-18-2013 12:09 PM

It's beautiful but I can't imagine doing 1" strips. Wow!

Kehoeta 02-18-2013 12:10 PM

Yes, I can imagine. 1152 strips and 144 2 inch squares.... LOL. I only know that because I just made a king size log cabin quilt for my brother... LOL

red-warrior 02-18-2013 12:28 PM

Lovely quilt and I would never have guessed it was from scraps! I agree if you use wider strips the king would not take
so long. The chain piece method makes it go faster too!

PattR 02-18-2013 12:36 PM

The quilt is beautiful and shows you are very talented. I have just started quilting and love doing it. Hope to become as good as you some day, but it is a learn as you go and self taught thing. Thanks so much for sharing.

Thank goodness for chain piecing! This would have taken at least twice as long if I did one square at a time, and a whole lot more thread.

That is beautiful! I love the log cabin pattern and I love your colors. I just ordered the Accuquilt Go along with a couple dies and can't wait for it to arrive. Love HSN easy payment plan.

Your quilt is GREAT. Also gives me encouragement as I really am a newbey. Question, where in Northern California. My hub worked for PG&E and we lived all over in NE California, including Weaverville. Sherry

sassyg 02-18-2013 01:46 PM

Love the colors...I think I might try one, thanks for sharing.

We're near Alturas.

I love the decorative stitching you did along the outside of each block, makes me think of the crazy quilt tradition. The stitches were especially effective I think because you used smaller strips. I love making log cabin quilts but the larger the strips the less effective I think the design and level of sophistication. I think your marathon of sewing is amazing to finish so quickly. I generally use inch and a half strips and have other projects going as I will cut during daylight and sew at night watching television to keep things relaxed but moving along. I have never really used chain piecing and I should but am afraid I could turn strips the wrong way cuz if there is a way to make a mistake, I will make it.

I love the colors and wonderful fabrics you used and I think your work is truly meticulous. Congratulations, I can't wait to see your finished quilt for your bed. Thank you

llweezie 02-19-2013 06:11 AM

That is great I love your colors! And a king size one in 2" strips would not take as long as you think !! Great job!

janiesews 02-19-2013 06:12 AM

Very nice! The King size would be beautiful too-just think of making several small ones like this and eventually you will have the king size. :>)

KLTQuilts 02-19-2013 06:20 AM

Even 1-1/2 inch strips would make a difference! And maybe that would satisfy him!

I was thinking 1.5 inch strips would be the way to go. The 1 inch strips look nice, but my quilting foot is wider than the 1/2 inch of fabric that isn't stitched on by about 1/16 of an inch. It would slightly hang up making a very small wave in the stitching. It was frustrating for a perfectionist.

sharin'Sharon 02-19-2013 12:00 PM

I love Log Cabin quilts and yours is great. Ranchwife....your scrap quilts are great also. Thanks for sharing.

Mariposa 02-19-2013 12:02 PM

Nicely done!! Perhaps tell hubby that a king-sized quilt made with such small strips would be pretty heavy!

Auntie Em 02-19-2013 12:39 PM

That is beautiful!!! Isn't amazing how much fabric you have on hand....you did a GREAT job!!!
