That can't be hand quilting.
It's absolutely stunning. Every stitch is the same. Love it, but am not going to ever try to copy it, maybe after another 10 or 15 years of practice. |

@Michele: yes, it's hand quilted.
@Suebee: I do my quilts mostly for my enjoyment and for quilt shows. Of course I also made some for family members or very good friends. |

you are very good at it. I try but have troubles getting even stitches, I think I have the quilt too tight in the hoop

As usual I love it. I don't see any marking on the quilt. Do you plan it out prior to starting or do you just wing it? How much marking do you do and how?

I have a plan (just in my mind...) which patterns I want to use and how to arrange them. For the first pattern ("flat iron") I have a selfmade half template for the oval shape and a small template for the rose at the bottom. The feathers and spirals are quilted free hand with almost no markings. The leaf in the second picture and the fern in the third are selfmade templates as well. The double lines are done freehand. I like it a lot do quilt with only a few markings, that gives me plenty of freedom for designing during the process of quilting. |
