It looks like you originally planned it that way. I think it is an improvement on the original.

That turned out really pretty. I had that same problem when I tried a lone star a while back. Mine ended up back in strips and I used it in other quilts. Great job on sticking it out and fixing it.

You know what? I love the way you fixed it, better than how it is 'supposed' to be. I love the colors and I think you have done a fantastic job, I would never have even attempted to start a Lone Star quilt in the first place. My hats off to you - great job!!
