Found this little beauty at a thrift store today!

It was just hanging there, looking SO bright and pretty! I saw the $3 price tag and I thought about the love and care this was made with. I knew I could not leave this little beauty there in the thrift store. I love the fabrics that are in this quilt. I wonder who made it, and for whom it was made. I wonder who would have passed it on to a thrift store. It is such a happy quilt! I am happy it came home with me!

I know most of my quilt if it is up to my brother will end up at a thrift store. He doesn't see the point of them . I think his sons will give to a good charity.

I think you have found a treasure in more ways than one. I am a Francophile and i look for the special delightful artifacts of French culture. From this photo, it looks to me that you found a quilt made from fabrics from Provence in the south of France. I have some of these fabrics in my stash following my visit to Provence in the spring of 2012. Congratulations on finding such a quilt with having to cross the ocean to buy the fabrics.

ladypetite 12-05-2013 07:32 AM

Too pretty to toss. Glad you rescued it :-)

wolph33 12-05-2013 07:52 AM

oksewglad 12-05-2013 07:55 AM

And now you have a story to tell about this little wonder!

Murphy1 12-05-2013 08:10 AM

It makes me sad when I think of the love and time that goes into quilts and then to find them given away and not kept in the family. We all know how expensive fabric is today and I think of all the quilts I have made and many given to others with love. Will they too end up in a thrift store or used as padding for something in the garage. I guess it is best not to think of where they will be 60 years from now. Hopefully some of them are kept and the quilter fondly remembered.

TnBecky 12-05-2013 08:37 AM

Very pretty. Glad it has found a new home.

Diane007 12-05-2013 09:03 AM

That is really pretty, and it's bright and cheerful.

LavenderBlue 12-05-2013 12:18 PM

What size is it? Looks like the pretty French fabrics I see each year at QuiltFest.

nativetexan 12-05-2013 12:43 PM

It is a nice quilt. I've given some to Charity when frustrated and cleaning out. I can only hope they found good homes too.

JenniePenny 12-05-2013 12:50 PM

I have some of that fabric!

Vivian Ketron 12-05-2013 12:55 PM

Pretty quilt. You lucked out on this one.

mighty 12-05-2013 01:57 PM

Really pretty!!!!!!!

Rodney 12-05-2013 02:24 PM

It's sad to me when I see one at a thrift store because I think of all the work someone put into it only for whoever had it last not to care enough to appreciate it.

It looks like a Moda fabric collection that I have - I think its an American Jane collection called Le Petite Poulet - I still have part of a layer cake - very pretty - so glad you rescued this quilt.

quiltjoey 12-05-2013 05:34 PM
