It is really simple with the 8 inch 60 degree ruler. I have enough material to make a second topper - so I PROMISE to put instructions with pictures here by the weekend!

Patrice, I realize you're a human being, but when I read your post with the "relaaaaaaaaaax," it felt like it was coming from that very relaaaaaxed kitty in your picture, and I just had to laugh.

Once I'm at the point of needing more info about borders, I'll post that question. Right now, I'm struggling with hand piecing blocks, so it'll do me more good later. Very good suggestion, and I won't forget!

After buying about 1 1/2 yards of border fabric that inspires you, decide how to divide your strips. You can make them any width as long as they can create mirror images.

Match the strips (if needed as with the daisies in this set).

Cut two triangles off each end, the first base down and the second base up.

Sew one matching triangle to each end. (Save the four odd triagles.) Then sew the two sides together.

Layer with the backing and batting or a piece of flannel. I used "warm and natural" batting this time.

Quilt in your favorite style - I like to just "SID" on the printed borders. For the long table toppers, I just left the edges raw.

But... using those leftoever triangles, I made a 6-sided round topper like shown on the ruler directions and used bias tape to bind it. It is a really versatile project.

Here is the one I had to make quick Thursday night for my boss! From this fall fabric, I have a leftover strip of fabric because of the way it repeats, and it should make some cute coasters!!

I stated earlier that it takes an hour... but time flies when quilting, and I think that it probably takes longer. I tried to time it, but quilting without interruptions just isn't going to happen with kids!!

I've wondered if there has ever been a swap here for table runners. The doll quilt exchange is great fun and has a lot of participants. Could something similar be done for table runners? Set a limit on maximum size? Might be fun to do a seasonal theme so everyone could have something new for fall or winter or spring or summer. Wouldn't have to do angles like this sample if people want to do other shapes. Just something I've been thinking about.
