Thanks for all the kind words and encouragement, it's much appreciated! :)
I have the blocks all stitched together now, so am ready to start on the inner and outer border. As stated previously, I'm going to use the green fabric for a thin inner border and the light background fabric for a larger outer border and backing. The green will then be used for the binding as well. I need opinions on the borders. I had initially planned to do a 2" inner green border and a 4" outer border. But when I layed materials next to the blocks to get a visual on it, the inner border of 2" looks too big to me (see pic below). So I tried it with a 1" inner border a 5" outer border and it looks better to me. The binding on either one would be about 1/2". What do y'all think? Which one do you like better, the 2" / 4" combination or the 1" / 5" combination? 1" / 5" combination 2" / 4" combination blocks all stitched together now |
Very pretty, I'm sure she will love it and appreciate that her father made it too!

I think I like the 2/4 combination best. Which one does your daughter like?
|
I think I'm leaning back to the 2"/4" combination as well. The 1" border looks too close to the 1/2" border in size I think.
I'd ask Olivia but she's off on choir tour with the youth group from our church for a week. So she'll have to take whatever the group opinion is here! :) |
Such a lovely quilt, with soothing and pleasant colors. I really like the pattern you used, too....really nice job! I've played with the idea of buying a couple of the Aviary jelly rolls, and now that I've seen them in your quilt, I definitely will.

Thanks for sharing your lovely soothing quilt. I guess I like the 2/4 combination also!
