The Geese really are Flying.

I had been wanting to make a flying geese quilt & saw this material for sale here on the QB. Both the Geese & the Gray blender fabric came from different board members. I know it doesn't look like it but the gray blender matches a shade of gray in the geese fabric. What a funny play on words & fabric for a flying geese quilt. I was lucky to have enough geese fabric to even cover the back. I know it's not very bright but I am very pleased with how it turned out. This on is for my DH.

Beautiful! perfect for a man with that fabric and colors! These geese won't be leaving any momentos for you to clean up. Your points look so good ... you've done a great job!

Amazing. I'm just now quilting a quilt I did with churn dash squares and sashing in between. I notice that the points of my churn dash don't line up well across the sashing. Yours line up perfectly. What is your trick?

This is going to sound crazy, but I hope this makes sense. I place a pin in the"ditch" of each side. When I place the right sides together I feel for the pins & then I mark the sashing with a chalk line. Pin it together & open it to look before I sew it together. Does this make any sense? It's hard to explain sometimes, but this is what I do on all the ones I have made. If anybody knows of an easier way I am listening. Trust me I had to undo this quilt a few times to get it to line up.
Good luck.

No that's what I call a real flying geese quilt - front and back. Gorgeous! I like the colors. Hope to make a flying geese someday.

Very great man quilt.
When I match up across the sashes, I line up a ruler and mark with a washable pencil and draw a line across the sashes, line up the across piece, pin and sew. I don't know if this will help or not.

tessagin 12-12-2013 03:09 PM

If truth be told I was chuckling when the idea struck me & while I was sewing it together. Yes my mind works in crazy ways, but I truly enjoyed making this one. :D
