My s-i-l responded to an ad on Craigslist re: fabric. When she told the lady we make Quilts for Kids, the lady DONATED it ALL to her. It has taken quite a while to get it organized and displayed so we can see it all, but here it is. My DH came up with the idea of the closet rod. {{smile}} The closed boxes below are fill of felt, fleece, home deco, canvas, tulle, etc...that are not best used in quilting. There are two small boxes of flannels (at least 1 yd +) and the larger box on end is pieces of fabric less than a yard. Keep in mind, this new stash did not fit into my sewing room.....I have encroached upon another room...hehehehe.

Annaquilts 01-30-2011 09:12 AM

That is wonderful! I am sure she is glad too that it will be used for a good purpose. I like to make donation quilts for the millitary and know that the cost of materials can become prohibitive. Congrats.

My husband spent $20 on the closet rod and the hooks.. JoAnn's was happy to save some of their cardboard bolts to give me. We cut and bent wire coat hangers to fit into the opening on the end of the bolts and voila....bolts of fabric to hang up. All of the hanging pieces are at least a yard or more. The pieces under a yards are folded in the open box...with the exception of the two boxes of flannels, of all sizes. Neat, huh!?

nellebelles 01-31-2011 12:17 AM

Very neat! Thank you for sharing how you did that. I will have to give it a try!
