This is a beautiful quilt. I absolutely love, love the quilting. It must have taken forever to do all that wonderful detailed quilting. A Christmas gift to treasure.

Well I must say Hazel Jane you did great gal!. I love your quilt, and definitely love the quilting. I wish I could just follow a stencil pattern, never would think of just winging it. You did great!. I think we all need something for just ME once in a while. I usually always give my quilts away for gifts. I have made a couple of tops for me, but that's as far as I am, they are just sitting around yelling, finish me finish me. I hope to get a couple completed this summer. However I have about four quilts I would like to do new this summer, wish me luck everyone. Love your quilt and quilting HJ you did good!!! What is that pattern if I might ask, I don't think I have ever seen that, perhaps have but it really stands out with your colors and fabric.

Absolutely beautiful! I love the roses. Did you do it by hand or machine? I don't see well enough to tell

hazeljane 05-22-2010 09:53 PM

I did it by machine. I have some wall stencils with arts and crafts/macknintosh style roses, that I love. So I kind of used them as a guide, but mostly just winged it. I'm learning to machine quilt on the frame, and that makes it much easier. I really suck at free motion quilting without the frame- I'm in awe of the folks here who do it well.

I don't know what the pattern is, but when I dig out the magazine, I will tell you. It's really just a four patch alternating with the solid white with the corners.

The white squares are called 'signature squares' but I don't know the other square name. It is really beautiful. Thanks for sharing not only your quilt, but your encouraging story. Holidays by yourself don't need to be sad. They can be very rich and spiritual. What a wonderful idea to fill that time.

Very pretty, soft and fresh looking. I also spend holidays alone and I really don't mind. I think the next time I will spend it making something just for me.

I love your quilt and you did a fantastic job on the machine quilting. Everyone needs to make a quilt just for themselves. We tend to make them and give them away and forget about making one for ourselves!!
