I've told several people about working on this EB quilt, having started it last summer and getting close to finishing it this. At this rate, I'm hoping to have the thing done by maybe ....... the first of never

Actually, my mother has laid claim to it, so I have to get it done soon. She's been dropping her subtle hints lately (i.e., when you finish my quilt, I'm going to put it right on my bed). Of course, she claimed it by saying, "you remember that flower quilt you were working on? Well, you can give that to me for my birthday. That's my mom. What can I say?

So anyhoooo, here are the pictures. I only have 13 of of 20 done (I'm redoing the crocus, since I didn't like how they turned out)

Quite a lot of the material I hand-dyed.

I was thinking on doing a 1/2" cross hatch on the basket squares and a feathered wreath on the solid squares. Maybe I'm just being too ambitious on this sucker since it's a queenie but we'll see.

retrogirl02 08-30-2008 08:40 AM

Wonderful work! I love that basket pattern and each of the flowers is so realistic looking!! Awesome job...and you're hand dying fabrics, too....WOW you're finishing this in record time, if you ask me.

CissyQuilts 08-30-2008 10:33 AM

Awesome! I can't wait to see the finished quilt!

Janstar 08-30-2008 01:19 PM

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA - I have no creativity. As long as I can follow the pattern I do okay. Otherwise, let's just not visit that park.

JCL in FL 09-04-2008 12:07 PM

I have very ittle creativity either and when I try to adjust a pattern or draw my own from something I've seen, it's not pretty. Actually the project turns out great but the process of trying to make my own pattern, that's not pretty.

QuiltinLee 09-04-2008 12:15 PM

Got 3 more of those puppies done. I just have to get them posted when I get home from work. (Needless to say, things have gotten slow around here in the last little while)

I just have the 4 roses to do. I got the leaves for them turned and stuffed last night. tonight I want to sew the handles to the baskets and do the pressing.

I'm going to be doing one in yellow, one in pink, one in red and one in peach. So here's hoping that they turn out.

kathyd 09-04-2008 12:57 PM

I love your blocks. You're doing a great job.
Now for the dumb question (I know there are no dumb questions, just dumb answers) who or what is EB - you said the patterns were from there?
I may want to try this pattern. I love doing hand applique, cause it's a great travel project.

Evelynquilts 09-04-2008 04:19 PM

love them all...:)

I love how the 1/2" cross hatch looks!!! I did that to a trapunto table runner I made a few years ago and just loved how it looked!! I would do that technique in a heartbeat if I get the chance again. I am thinking of starting a Trapunto quilt in the new year with a friend of mine that sews with me on Thursday nights. We both want to make full size Trapunto quilts for our beds. I might do that 1/2" cross hatch on that too..

BTW, your applique blocks are GORGEOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love doing applique and I can certainly appreciate the work gone into those beautiful blocks. It looks like there is alot of embellishing and 3D work put into them!! I can't WAIT to see how it will look when its all finished and quilted. I really hope to post photos!
