Grandson's Wedding quilt
1 Attachment(s)
After I got this home from the quilter, we discovered 2 blocks (adjacent to each other) had been turned a quarter turn Off. After a lot of thought, I decided to trace the quilting pattern on the backing, then picked out all the quilting on the 2 blocks, ripped them out of the quilt top, turned the blocks correctly, and then hand stitched the blocks back into place. I then turned the quilt over and re-quilted those blocks following the pattern I had traced earlier. It is not perfect quilting, but it really is had to find where I fixed it. I'm happy with the end results. My grandson and his wife will be happy to finally get their wedding quilt so they can put it on their bed, in a room with a lot of purple in it (Go Kansas-State Wildcats).

I know you were heart broken when you saw the turned blocks...but you fixed it and it's beautiful! Surprised your quilter didn't notify you of the problem before she quilted it!

Lovely quilt and what a great idea for you had, to fix the mistake. I am sure no one will ever notice. It will be our little secret ;)

Nice quilt!! You did a great job on the repair!

That is a heart warming story. I would like to think I could handle something like that calmly as you sound. They are sure to love it. You should write up the story of the fix, so that they will know how much you love them.

I urge all quilters to purchase a object that goes into a door to see who is outside from Home Depot, etc. When your quilt is laid out it will instantly show up any mistakes when you look at it thru this devise. And it shows the quilts pattern beautifully.
|
It's a beautiful quilt. You were very clever with the remedy for the situation.
|
Very pretty quilt and in my favorite color.
|
Beautiful quilt. I love the 3-D effect. I know it will be enjoyed until it is threadbare. And, I learned an interesting lesson about fixing a problem. Your solution to replacing the quilting is really great. I'll keep that in my tips file.
|
That is beautiful!! I can't see where you fixed it. Great Job!

I had a similar incident but caught it BEFORE quilting. Three others looked at it and didn't spot the error either. I decided to take a picture to send to a friend and thanks to the picture the mistake just jumped out at you! Now I tahe a picture of my tops before quilting
