Still working on the Never Ending Quilt! Yesterday I finished 24 of the blocks, there are 48 total, and sewed a row together. The pieces are all cut and ready to make the HSTs for the side sections of the other 24 blocks and then they're ready to assemble.
Always good to take a picture and look at it. I see that there are too many light/blue in the second and third row down. And that there are two pinkish HSTs ones in line with each other in the 3rd row. I'll need to adjust that... |
Pam, I just love the quilts you make!! BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!! :D
|
Pam, your quilts are awesome and this one will be NO exception!!! Keep us posted!

Wow, that is on it's way to being another awesome quilt. Thanks for giving us a peek.
|
That is just lovely. Such precise work! I'm excited to see the finished product. You make me want to be brave and try this!
|
wonderful points and colors. take one more bow ;) .
|
I want to see it finished too!! I haven't worked on it in weeks because I was just too tired of doing the same thing over and over and I wouldn't let myself work on anything else (start another one).
When I did a test block it came out a smidgen under the 9 1/4" unfinished size so I adjusted the needle over 2 clicks. The next test block came out exactly right but what that did was make the points float a tiny bit. That's OK, I guess. Better than cutting them off. I haven't trimmed or squared any of the blocks. I use a hard pressing surface and I drew a 9 1/4" square in pencil on the board so when I press the blocks I make sure they are the size of the square. There may be TINY differences but when the sashing is sewn on (and the sashing pieces are the correct size), it makes the blocks conform to that size so I'm not fussing with a bunch of measuring and squaring up each one. |
Your blocks are beautiful!!!
|
Love it!! I have a stack of nine patches and plan to do something similiar.
|
I think it is beautiful just the way it is.
|
It's a nice pattern for small scraps too. The squares are only 1 3/4" unfinished size. I've used 80 different fabrics so far... 24 for the 9-patch corners, 24 for the HSTs, 24 for the corner sections, 3 purples for the 9-patch centers, and 5 greens for the sashing. Well, plus the ivory. I will be making the hearts out of all the fabrics I have used already and will need to get some yardage for the green strips on the border.
This is all done from a 200 fabric set of CW I got on ebay in 9"x11" cuts. I'm sure I can get another quilt out of them with combining it with the bolt of ivory I have. Been keeping my eye out for patterns to use them in. |
I like what you've done. This will be a gorgeous quilt.
Always good to take a picture and look at it. |
WOW!!!
this is going to be beauty! don't you just love scrappy quilts |
So pretty, I have some that I am tired of but need to finish. I admire your resolve to stick with it. I have at least 16 PIGS. (projects in grocery sacks)
|
This will be on gorgeous quilts. I love the softness and elegance of it.
|
It is so pretty. I wish I had the patience to do one like it because I really like the pattern and ,as you said, it's great to use up small scraps and half-square triangles. Can't wait to see the finished quilt.
|
This is going to be a beautiful quilt when you are finished! GREAT JOB!! :)
|
Gorgious looking quilt, Can't wait to see it all finished.

|
Wowee, neat blocks.Going to make a great quilt.
|
Love it!
|
Wow! Beautiful work. Look at all those tiny pieces!
|
Taking a break for a minute, maybe have lunch. Need to run to Walmart for a few things too (excuses, excuses). I got the second row and the first sashing strip done so I can sew the two rows together. Also cut 10 more WOF strips of the ivory. It sure is going slow and I need to cut some ivory off the bolt and get it washed. Will have to figure up how much more I need so I don't cut off more than necessary. Still need to cut the long piece for the borders.
If I can get off my behind and stop wasting time!! |
those are great blocks. it's so funny you talk about some colors being too close to each other.
i laid out 36 blocks on my bed and picked them up and took them down and sewed together. now i have three pink ones together. i swear they weren't that way on my bed! |
It seems to always happen, no matter how careful you try to be, something always goes together wrong! For me anyway.
What I am doing is that while they are on the wall I use my blue marking pin and I put one dot on the edge of the first block, two dots on the second, etc. etc. Then when I take them to the machine I don't have to worry about keeping everything in perfect order, just look at the dots. |
I love it!! You are such an amazing quilter.

Two rows done! I feel like I'm putting off doing the HSTs. :P
This is how it will look with the applique hearts |
Your quilt is gorgeous!
Is this your pattern? Love it!! |
The pattern is from the May 2010 issue of American Quilter. I added the hearts and the border and used CW fabrics instead of the bright batiks used in the magazine.
I love how it looks with the hearts though I have a tiny bit of doubt that it's too "cutesy" and I've been looking at 4-petal flower shapes that would kind of echo the four circular look of the space between the blocks. |
Beautiful job! I really like your pattern. Can't wait to see the finished quilt.
|
That is going to be very pretty.
|
Wow! Beautiful!
|
I can't wait to see it finished, it's gonna look so cool
