This is a table quilt I'm making for my DD. I can't decide between these two borders or does it even need another border??I could use the brown or green fabric for the binding and forget another border. What do you all think?

I really like them both, but would probably go with the first.

liminanc 01-27-2011 10:57 AM

love it and I would use the green fabric.

Patched 01-27-2011 10:57 AM

Your quilt is beautiful. I like the second one, it matches the sashing and pulls it all together.

amma 01-27-2011 10:57 AM

Beautiful topper, I really like the first border :D:D:D

gramysews 01-27-2011 10:58 AM

OOPS!!Got thr border fabrics mixed up ,The first pic is the brown ,second one is the green.

franie 01-27-2011 10:58 AM

Love that quilt and either border will be fine or even without. It is gorgeous!

kathy 01-27-2011 10:59 AM

I like it as is, just a dark binding. let me know when it's done so I can send you my address! ;-)

dungeonquilter 01-27-2011 11:02 AM

I like the green border best.

Jan T 01-27-2011 11:09 AM

The green border ties it back to the sashing and looks very good. The brown border looks better because it is darker. Either way, it is a work of art for you to be proud of.

donnajean 01-27-2011 11:09 AM

I like it without the additional border if it is big enough for you.

Jim's Gem 01-27-2011 11:10 AM

Either border would be quite pretty. I think I prefer the first one though. (This would be the brown border) Bind in the green

yonnikka 01-27-2011 11:12 AM

H'mm. Before I register a choice, I would suggest you place the topper on the table where it will be used. Then you can see which looks best. If you or your DD decide it should be bigger, then you might want to use both the brown and the green. Seeing it in context might make all the difference!

T-Bones mom 01-27-2011 11:12 AM

If the size is alright, I would not add another border, just a brown binding. It is so beautiful as is, it does not need anymore.

Kimkankwilt 01-27-2011 11:14 AM

Both work well, but I like the first one :)

MissBarbQuilts 01-27-2011 11:16 AM

How about using the green as a border, and then binding it with the brown?

scowlkat 01-27-2011 11:25 AM

Like the first border. Really pretty.

Central Ohio Quilter 01-27-2011 11:27 AM

My pick is the green border. It just seems to fit in with the rest of the quilt.

Linda Loo 01-27-2011 11:31 AM

I think I like the second (brown) best. The other is just a little distracting from your feature work. Great quilt!

OKLAHOMA PEACH 01-27-2011 11:32 AM

Looks great either way.

quiltsRfun 01-27-2011 11:47 AM

I like the second one with less pattern in the fabric. It doesn't detract from the dresdens and applique and frames both nicely.

paintedquilt 01-27-2011 11:50 AM

I like the 1st border fabric :-D

I'm with Central Ohio Quilter on that one, but do agree that both would work. Beautiful quilt.

Lisa_wanna_b_quilter 01-27-2011 12:09 PM

It's very pretty. Another border isn't necessary, but of your choices, I'd do green. Green would add a bit more color to the quilt.

PaperPrincess 01-27-2011 12:10 PM

I agree with T-Bones Mom. If the size is correct, I'd just bind it with the floral.

bjchad 01-27-2011 12:12 PM

I really like the first border but it would be beautiful without another border too!

xsquilter 01-27-2011 12:24 PM

It's a beautiful quilt! Right away, I like it without a border, then when looking at your choices...whew,that's hard
....both look great but I might lean more toward the second
choice.

I like the first one, the brown floral.

the casual quilter 01-27-2011 12:42 PM

Both would work, but I like the first.

Lady-T 01-27-2011 12:50 PM

Beautiful topper!!! I vote for the Green border.

quilting cat 01-27-2011 12:54 PM

Definitely the first one!

Agree!

If the quilt needs to be made larger, I favor the brown floral for a border and then green for the binding.

LoisN 01-27-2011 01:06 PM

Brown. Your quilt is gorgeous.

I have the same opinion. Beautiful quilt.

Tcharlie 01-27-2011 01:13 PM

I like the first one, the top picture. That border shares all the colors of the blocks.

nativetexan 01-27-2011 01:18 PM

the green one looks really good.

TanyaLynn 01-27-2011 01:27 PM

Definitely the first border. I'm not familiar with the term table quilt. Do you use it like dining room tablecloth, or cocktail table covering, or end table, or cardtable cover? How will your DD use it? I think it is beautiful.

Tanyalynn, I should have said table topper. Its just a quilt for the dining table most often made in a square, oval or other shape instead of a long rectangle like the table runner.

Thank you everyone for all the help and nice comments. My daughter has decided it is large enough for her table as is so I'm not going to add any more borders. Will just quilt it and use the brown fabric for the binding.

Lindsey 01-27-2011 03:23 PM

oh I really like the first border. You can send the whole thing here i'll take it off your hands.

CarolinePaj 01-27-2011 03:24 PM

I like the big flowers!

Hugs
