I came back from the LQS with more lovely fat quarters. With a D9P already set in my head i started cutting my squares. I seem to be tearing myself into two sides that cant come to an agreement. so maybe some extra eyes can help me.
I liked the gray fabric with those vines but i think the b&w squares look better as the main squares with the black ones. maybe So i think i like option 2 but i liked showcasing that gray in option 1. but i think option 2 flows better.... LOL see my perdicament? Extra professional eyes like yall would help from a different view! Whats your opinions? option 1 option 2 |
I like both of them
have fun! |
I like them both but if I were to chose I like #2
I like #1. The black print in the smaller amount gives more movement and interest to the blocks. It is just too overpowering in the larger size. Nice colors!
I like option 2

I think #1 but agree it is difficult to choose ... maybe if you had all the blocks on a design wall, take a photo, walk away and look at it again. kinda hard to tell with only a handful of blocks
But it will turn out wonderful ... D9P is one of my faves, and any quilt in b/w/r gets my approval. |
Option 2
I like them both as well.
Option 1 overall in the finished quilt would give a softer calmer look with Option 2 having a little more active kind of look. Guess it would depend on the outcome look you want. Either way looks great and would work just fine. |
They are both nice.
Not a professional opinion here! I like #2 best. I think the gray in #1 stands out too much.
Both are beautiful.
My personal preference is #1 just because it has smaller amounts of the 'busier' fabric. |
#2
#2
I think #2 is my choice..it has balance.
I love gray-one of my favorite colors-so Option 1 is beautiful to me. Good Luck choosing.

I played around on paint since i dont have a design wall (though i wish i did) le sigh. But maybe this can help get a better view :D..
option 2 option 1 |
The 1st one !!
It this were my quilt, I would change the light rectangles to red. Probably lots of different red prints with a variety of scale to the prints. You have mostly med/med dks as the greatest % of the quilt.
I prefer #1.
That sure is pretty fabric. I like the first one best.
I like opt # 2 the best!

Looking at it again, I'd say either the light grey or the busy black-white needs to go. The two of them don't work well together. But that's just my unqualified opinion.
I agree on #2. The gray tends to kind of break up the solid black and the black and white. I like that it does that. I have that gray to use as a lining in a bow tuck bag. It is a beautiful fabric and will look very nice along with your other fabrics in the quilt.

ok so after reading all the posts, and trying to figure out which one i liked best i just couldnt pick.
When i got out of my stubborn as a mule thinking i should ONLY look at those two options i had an epiphany as per usual right as im falling asleep thinking of the responses to my post. I think this is the best solution and i hope you all are in agreeance with me. either im tired or i dunno but i think this may give the right balance, chic, pop, and elegance i was looking for when i chose my material. Without further adu.... option numero 3! i took the busier fabrics and put them as the "borders" if you will and made the black and white square the focus. let me know what yall think! |
#1 gets my vote. Just prefer the placement of color better.
Number one - the colors are better showcased all around - the grey next to the solid black in number two gets muted looking like a washed out crayon grey - and isn't enough contrast between the black and grey. In number one it is more crisp.

#1 I think the large gray softens it.
I loke both as well.. no help here.
i think i like op 2 better...
I like option 1 because that pretty gray fabric stands out more. In option 2, the gray kind of gets lost......just my opinion.
#1 for me
I like No. 1
I like #1 best, it isn't quite as busy, and I love the gray mnaterial.
