So if she likes it make it and enjoy the process. |
Their not my fav colors but they are beautiful together but I would have to wear sunglasses and only do a couple blocks at a time -good luck and when its done Plese post a pic
I love it. Batiks are so pretty and when cut you never know how they are going to look. I think it will be a beautiful quilt. Keep on going.
I love the pattern and the colors. it's a gift, she loves it, so go for it!
Its great Border each block in a dominant colour. You are stuck with it that why I do not make quilts for people and let them choose their colours etc I got caught like that once and hated doing it but had to. LIve and learn I make a quilt now and if they like it they but it. Carmen Australia

I love it too and the fabrics and design of the block - gorgeous!

I have that pattern plus the DVD haven't done anything with it yet but now that I've seen yours, I absolutely love your block far more than the original colors in the book. I think it's beautiful :)
I love the block. I think when you get more done & put together you will like it better.
WOW! I LOVE IT!
I Love It

Went through 12 pages. Wondering how do you feel after so many positive input
Its beautiful, btw ... |
I love it , it's beautiful. As long as she loves it, just make the sacrifice, she will appreciate it
Guess you'll just have to keep in mind that it's for HER and not for you. If she loves it, just grit your teeth, bit your tongue, and get that puppy sewn up and outta there!!!!
I know how you feel. Sometimes the fabrics, colors, design, etc. just don't speak to you! Then you get it done and quilted and you fall in love with it again! Sometimes you're just too close to it and it just takes removing it for a little while for it to be marvelous. I love batiks personally, and this will be a stunning quilt!
I love the fabric and the block is beautiful. Would it show up better if you changed the purple in the center to another color so that it would show up better? Just a thought.

I like batiks so to me it is beautiful and the colors I would of picked. Just take your time and do other things in between
It's actually quite pretty! If your sister loves it, then, make it for her. Her opinion is the only one that counts since it IS her quilt! :)
I love the fabric and the block! Keep going on it. Maybe a calm dark sashing between the blocks will make the difference for you.
LOL I totally understand your problem. My DGS wanted his quilt to be orange, my least favorite color in the world. But I love him, so orange it was. I was never so happy to finish a project in my life!!! Hugggggs, smilessssss and speedy quilting on this one.
Sorry you don't like it, I know how hard it is to work on something you really don't like and are always glad when it is finished. Personally I really really like the pattern and the color combo. But then I like almost anything in the purple or violet family. I really think those fabs. go together very well, but then that's just my opinion. Anxious to see the finished quilt. Maybe, you could do some switching of the fabric in places and make it look different, not using other fab, just switching what you have. This would give it an entirely different look. I really do like it.
I think it is gorgeous! Maybe you will like it more as you work on it.
I too, love the fabrics. Even though they will present different from the pattern the quilt should be beautiful. And, if sis likes them - forge ahead! By the end, you may decide the colors have grown on you!

I actually like it very much.
Just remember, she said she loves it...the quilt is for "her", NOT you. If she "loves it", that's what is important. You work is very nice & it will be a treasure to your sister because you did it for her. Even more of one IF she knew you did it & hated it from the beginning, but did it anyway, because she "loved it". A sister's gotta do what a sister says she'll do.
OOO that is very nice. I love the colors together.. Plus if your sister loves it. Why not she was the one who picked out the material. Sorry you dont like the colors. Hopefully you can get threw it. Just remember your Sister loves it.
It doesn't matter whether you like it or not...
your work is perfect and as long as they like it.... I would focus on the technical aspects, chain piece as much as possible and before you know it...it'll be done and they'll love you even ore for all your hard work. Actually, the fabric combinations are rather nice! He's got a good "eye". |
I make a bet...when you finish you will LOVE it! I think the colors are beautiful. Will be georgeous when finished! Dont forget to show us : )
Hey off the subject of color...your work is wonderful! I am not a batik lover but YOU did a great job. Just plug on and finish it. You may grow to love it.
Keep going...they love it.
Something that might help is to make a little chart of how many squares you have to make so you can cross each one off with a big black X as you finish it. Kinda like counting down the days till Christmas, only in reverse. LOL
I like it!
it is hard working out of your safety zone - isn't it? just try setting yourself a goal of a block a day or 3 a week. It will go by faster then you think.
Maybe it is too busy for you? If so, adding a few more quieter fabrics or sashing that gives the eye a place to rest would be nice. I personally love it, but a little less energy might be pleasing too.
hi to you, I don't know if you don't like the colors, but I love them and I might even copy them.
I'm almost finish with this pattern I,m working on--so now I have to look as to what fabric I have --or going to the quilt shop. Good luck with it |
I love it too! As long as she's being honest with you, if she picked the fabric and the pattern out and she says she loves it, Go for it! All of us have different tastes. You may find when you're done that you like it better too. At least when you're done with it you won't have to look at it quite as often. :-)
Wow! I love it! But then, I love brights and batiks.
