Here are some pics of what my dh did.

I use a pint canning jar with floral marbles in the bottom and set it on the table behind and next to my machine. One of the ladies in my quilt guild took it a step further by filling several bobbins and placing them in the bottom of the jar that way she has them ready when she needs them.

Put my cone in a quart jar that once held mayo and it works great.

Pick up a thread holder that sits on your sewing machine. It will hold any size spool and they aren't too expensive.

I use the Tall Round Towers Packages that CD's come in and set them at the end of my machine they are tall enough and it feeds very well

Janome has the thread holder for vertical large spools. Contact your dealer and he should have yours for you as I believe they were supppose to come with the machine. It screws to the back of the machine in the holes already there for it.
