Since I am on a fabric moratorium for the rest of the year, I am trying to use up a lot of the 4, 5, and 6" fabric sample squares I have accumulated. Here is a quilt using up 6" squares, and some five inch squares. At first when deciding if to put on a border I thought I would need something to calm it down, I saw the black and white check and thought,,,no, really, oh give it a try. I think it works.
Blocks are free cut in a slash, mix and sew. No particular pattern except that they radiate out from the center. The black square was an after thought but I think it gives the quilt definition. close up of squares long view of whole quilt. |

Cute idea for a quilt. Like the red border.

I like it, reminds me of the ones my grandmother used to make, using what she had on hand.

Love it!! If you are planning to use up your stash I Can see that you are set for a couple years or so. I love peeking behind your quilt. You are such a tease
That is quite an impressive Stash peeking out from behind your quilt! I understand completely your Moratorium on Buying...
Wow that is some stash you have behind the quilt. You are in for a lot of sewing. I imagine that will last for more than a year. Good thing you have so much extra space. Lucky you.
My kind of quilt, very pretty!
Gal |
pretty!
How did you get you blocks to all look the same as far as cutting (the fan shape)?
I like it too. What a neat design..Keep up the good work..your stash will disappear soon...
Great use of what you already have.
I really like this. Looks so sweet and old fashioned. Very clever of you.
very nice. I wish I could do something like that. My mind dosen't work that way though, I need to visualize it first. Not much fun sometimes when you just want to be creative.

Really scrappy and wonderful!! Now I know what to do with my left overs too!
Very interesting pattern, nice work!!
Beautiful, I like it a lot!
This is beautiful. Now I don't feel so badly about all the fabric I have hoarded. What is the name of the pattern? Can I find it someplace on the web?
THanks for sharing. Muslin on the back? |
but ... it's only January!
i am with you. i am trying not to buy anything new until i use up a good portion of what i have. It is amazing how far the scrap pile will go. Made a full size dresden with just shades of blue i had and even used different color squares of blue for the backing(still have loads of blue left!) Loved the look of the pieced backing - never had done it before, but will definitely do so on the next scrap quilt i am planning.
Very cool! The border looks great...nice way to use up those scraps and make a wonderful quilt :)
That is a great looking top! I need to do the same thing with some of the fabrics I've had for a decade or longer.
very cute; nice use of your stash.

Just love it! You did a great job with the fabric selection & colors! I too am on a 'fabric diet' this year! It's a year to complete that which I've started and use up what I have!
Blessings, MaryAnna |
I like it! The black and white draws all the other colors together. I'm having fun, tho a bit of a challenge. on the fab mo (fabric moratorium). Can't wait to see all the creations.
