Beautiful scrappy quilt :D:D:D

I love these scrappy quilts too! If we cut our scraps into usable pieces as we go along, we could use them as leaders and enders. That way it isn't alot of piecework all at once and you don't have an overwhelming pile of scraps that you never get around to.{but can't seem to part with}

I'd say these leftover's are better the second time around. You did a good job of utilizing them.
Very nice. Combining the squares with the neutral was a good idea. Love the flannel back.
Oh Gladie, that is wonderful. You are such a creative gal. I just love it. Good job, thanks for sharing. I have a zillion 21/2" squares, now you've given me some good ideas.

What a wonderful use of leftovers!

Thanks again. I really like small things, as some of you DQ swappers know, this was taking it up a size notch! Lucinda, if some of your squares are neutrals (ie white on white or white on beige) use them with the deeper colored squares and you will have a scrappier effect and can sew leaders and enders as HisPatchwork suggests.
moreland--my quilting buddy and I noticed how more dramatic a block (especially simple blocks) is when set on point and I just thought that this whole center piece was one block. |
It is "charming"!
What a cool scrapbuster!
How pretty!
OK, you are so clever and thrifty!!! I love "cuddler" quilts...they are just enough for a chilly evening on the couch in front of the TV.
Beautiful! Love patchwork!
What a great name for it. Your corners look perfect. It is a great quilt.
Love your scrappy quilt. It is so snuggable!!
I love the way the different values lead my eye around the quilt. Very interesting to look at all the different fabrics - I love scrappy!
I'm doing one right now that uses all the little triangles I cut off when joining binding strips - pictures to follow! Janie |
Very nice.

What a fantastic way to use all those "left-overs" we all have and own. Thanks for sharing.
Good job using your leftovers. Looks like you planned it out. Real pretty.
what a clever idea,
great job and thats why I save anything that will make a 2 inch square..for exactly that reason..so pretty
love it!
I've got a box with loads of little squares - hmmmm
That looks like another quilt to add to my "use up the stash" list |
Left overs are great and pretty!!
Beautiful quilt. Great idea. I think I would like to try that myself.
nice!!
That is so inspiring! It makes me want to try too, and I sure do love leftovers! :D
great job all around. Your quilting is wonderful. You're an inspiration.

The quilting was really easy. I hand basted first because of the higher loft of the batting. Wasn't sure how spray basting would work. I started regular sewing with a varigated thread in the center and sewed on the diagonal of the light blocks in a square, then shot off of the square and traveled in concentric squares until I got to the first border. The large setting triangles are FMQ with large stipple quilting. I experimented with a ribbon stitch in the outer border. Liked how that went and will do it again.

oh how snuggly nice. :)

Beautiful :-D :-D :-D

I just love the scrappy quilt! I would be using it of late here ... it's been brrrrry cold!
