I think that most companies have a time limit on medical leaves. I know when I was working it was 6 months with my company. You went on short term disability and when 6 months was up your position was terminated. Was this what happened to you?

It was actually 4 months. They only had to let me be gone for 12 weeks but they extended it because I was doing so good. Then bamm I was back to square 1.

The important thing now is to keep the Go and look forward to being 100% again. You have age and attitude on your side so you will be fine.

I am sorry, as we all are, that you lost your job in the midst of a medical problem. That has happened to more people than we know - my daughter, too, who is a nurse. That statement doesn't help your situation. Chin up. The upcoming year will be a good one.

The laws in FL are very similar. If you are off work and you have run out of short term disability and the insurance co will not grant you any more time, the employer has the right to term you. Of course all situations are different.

I'd check into that,being fired unless you don't care and was looking for an excuse to play. I was fired once long time ago like in the 70's but my foot was more important than her dang job. Her business closed shortly after, just can't treat your employees like that.

What type of place do you work at? I am fairly sure that in most states they cannot fire you for a medical issue. I think they have to give you a medical leave of absents (sp). By the way keep the toy!~

Yeah, I would check with the Labor Commissioner in your state...just to make sure.
