Thank you, Wanabee! We don't know the name of the pattern. All we know is that we can't wait to make it! Because the star points resemble a petal to me, I just call it a flower quilt for now.:)

Thank you for the pictures.

redhotnana 01-11-2012 02:02 PM

This is a wonderful quilt! The colors are so clear and vibrant! Thanks for the pattern and directions--I can't wait to try it! Hope mine turns out half as nice as yours!

It will! The neat thing about this pattern is when you alternate the dark flowers with med. flowers, no matter which diagonal direction you look to the right or left, above or below, they are in sequential order throughout! Well, that is if you place the darkest ones as the group of 4 like I did horizontally with the mediums between the 2 rows, it will work! I hope that makes sense...lol...:)

I'd love to see your tut - it's a great look, and I know I have some 4 patch leftovers that would be great used up this way!

I used a stack of pre-made 4P's enough to do the whole thing. It's probably why I finished this quilt top in 3 days. Look on this page for the link I posted. Thank you pjnesler!!!!:)

You did fantastic!! I already saw your post, it's so oooo cute, and I replied! I feel honored if people want to copy my work to a tee! It's okay with me ~~ that's what creativity is all about! Just as I was inspired to make a quilt like the one I saw doing my own thing, I'm happy you were inspired to do your thing with what I did!!! hahahaha! That was a mouthful for sure!! Say that 10x real fast and they'll go......what did she just say?????? hahahahhaha!

Anyway, I'm so thrilled! That little mini you did is just out of this world! I love those dark, warm colors you chose -- perfect to exude that warmness that minis always exude! It's just the cutest thing ever!! Be sure and watch my threads.....I know you'll get more ideas!! I can't wait to show you guys this pattern I came up with. It's my favorite so far. I have the whole quilt done but need the setting squares and I'll post. Look for my half-strippy scrappy coming! haha. Plus, I've got another lappy almost done....wooohooooooo!!:)

Thank you, bepositive!! Love that name! Yes, my tip is to avoid real dark colors like browns and blacks for the flowers and you'll have a vibrant looking quilt!:)

Your very welcome! Yes, irishrose, you can read about the mini in my avatar at this link:

http://www.quiltingboard.com/picture...is-t58040.html

Just scroll half-way down the page and you'll see 'Charm Mini No. 1.' You can also read about it in the first paragraph at the top of this page. The pattern also follows on that thread. Just flip through the pages and you'll see the pattern. Both the minis, #1 and #2, were made with the same pattern. It looks different on point though. I think the pattern is on page 3. You'll see it. It's called Crossed Canoes. Thanks for your interest! Hope you'll make it one day and post pics for all of us to enjoy! :)

Thanks everyone for your wonderful comments! For those looking for the mini-tut, it's on page 4. Here's the link for you: (scroll half-way down the page and you'll see it)

I Loved Making This Quilt! No Squaring Up Was Needed!!

****one thing I thought about I forgot to mention is that the outer edges of the quilt are plugged in with a white 4.5" square where normally a new flower color would start off the beginning of the next row. Therefore, when doing the long vertical strips on the top row of the quilt, you will actually be starting off with 2, not 1, white 4.5" squares. Refer to the outside edges of her quilt pic or mine on the first page to see how we plugged those areas in with a white square. You will probably want to do the same!

****also, the width dimension I forgot to add 4" to so it should be [email protected]"

Am excited about seeing your flower quilt! Be sure and post pics! We all would love to see how you each do them! Your very welcome for the instructions!! :)

OMG, I am hoping everyone can understand them as I just did them so quickly, went back and read them today and ROFL! Step 1 says how to make 1 block. Step 2 says now put 3 rows on the design wall..........hahahahaha.......Step 3 is put 8 blocks on the wall........hahahha.......Oh, it's funny!

Let me say this, it's easy to do the quilt when you make the top row all dark flowers and alternate the next row with med. flowers! That's what I did but should have said that. It does make it easier. Then no matter which way you look diagonally, they are alternated by colors. Of course, looking horizontally, the whole row is either dark or med.

A good tip is to avoid blacks and browns for the flowers and when you get a slight variation between the darks/med., the flowers vibrate better. Darks are ok for the 4P's, but as for the flowers, they throw things off balance.

Another tip is I put kinda busy fabrics in 4P centers to perk up the flowers. You'll find that you'll need to do this too to get those flowers to pop out!

I've learned that working in sections is far better than having to reach so high on the design wall. Sewing the quilt together is much easier this way too! You will have your choice in joining the long vertical strips to the joined blocks either horizontally or vertically -- whichever way you do it is fine!

One of the reasons this quilt will come together so perfectly is the fact that blocks are linked by corners! The only thing you have to make sure of is when the 4P's meet those HST's perfectly! If not, it'll show up bad....lol...

Well, thank you so much, mpeters! You made my day! I sure hope everyone understands my crazy mixed up tut! :)
