That is a tough one, but I think I like #3 with #1 a very close second.

That would be my thinking. Of course, I love snowballs anyway. I am not especially fond of the diagonality of bowties, although switching directions every other row counteracts that. I have also seen attractive X patterns of bow ties, using 4 blocks to make a larger unit.

The bottom line, however, is that YOU have to like the results.

I like the bow tie look with each row going the opposite direction. If you are going to put flannel on the back or you could use fleece if you are not putting it in a show, this would be warm enough and not heavy to sleep under. If you feel you still need batting have you tried the Warm & Natural that is all I have used for the past few years. The coloring is beautiful and red sets it all off.

I like them all, but #1 would be really fun to play with quilting patterns.

noveltyjunkie 09-24-2011 01:10 PM

1. The others are very angular and I think a cuddly quilt needs to be softly pieced.

My thoughts also.

I like the 2

GGJudy 09-24-2011 07:13 PM

I like #1, and it gives you a lot of room in the light "snowballs" for some creative quilting.

SandyinZ4 09-24-2011 07:15 PM

I don't know what everyone else chose, but I like #1 the best, especially for a large quilt. :-) Let us know which one you pick.

muddlingabout 09-24-2011 07:15 PM

I like the first with the large areas for quilting design fields. If you don't love a lot of thread and design, I think two and three would save you from that.

I like the first one... lots of opportunities to quilt some really cool things in those blocks. Great colors.

I agree.

hensandhollyhocks 09-24-2011 09:10 PM

Two is my favorite, but one would probably be better for such a large area.

SnowQuilt 09-24-2011 09:19 PM

#1 :)

Sibi 09-24-2011 10:37 PM

I like #3

LucyInTheSky 09-24-2011 10:44 PM

#3. Interesting pattern. I think with #2, it looks like what you would expect to see (since I have a similar one in my UFO pile) and 1 just doesn't appeal to me

#1 and for the batting I can recommend Quilters Dream Puff, one of my fav. thick battings (not affiliated in any way).

#2 is my favorite; esp if you are one who doesn't want to do a lot of quilting; also it's different; and has more color.

ScrappyCat 09-25-2011 03:26 AM

Which do you like? I have to laugh because everyone has a different preference. I like 3.

Ed 09-25-2011 03:31 AM

On the first 3 pages of this post.
You have 31 in favor of #1
9 in favor of #2
3 in favor of #3
I have to go along with the flow. I like #1. I can see a lot more ways to quilt it with the #1.

jillaine 09-25-2011 03:31 AM

#2 - more dynamic.
