but I know what I did. I was making a "faux" bowtucks bags because I always liked them but never want to spring for the pattern. I see so many beautiful ones on this board that I just had to try. I did a pretty good job of figuring it out but the one part I have done on many other bags-I messed up royally! I boxed it sideways! At least I know I can make one and will NEVER (one can hope) make that mistake again. I guess I got to excited to finish near the end and stopped thinking b/c I was at something I had done before.

Thank-you everyone. There's not really anything wrong and it looks deeper but...it's not wide at all. I actually used it today. I did good considering no pattern. The thing is, I have "boxed" many bags and that is the part I messed up. I just sewed it the wrong way and cut before I checked because I "knew what I was doing" for that part. That will teach me! I realize noone (at least that aren't bagmakers) would notice but we have to lauh at ourselves, right?

That's a good plan, and you really can't see the mistake in the picture.

The bag is beautiful and you should be very proud to carry it! Only you would know your mistake, everyone else will only see its beauty.

No, you didn't make a mistake. You re-engineered what was thought to be a pattern and made a beautiful, feminine style handbag. You should draw out this "engineering marvel", copyright it, and make scads of money. Say, how much you want for the bag? I am not kidding, I love it.
