I think you did a great job on the quilt. And I'm sorry your dad reacted that way towards your gift. If my dad did that to me it would have broken my heart.

You did a good job and sometimes people do not realize what they say and how it hurts someone.

I'm so sorry you were hurt! Been there, done that, did not like it... I agree with the others - go get it and put it proudly on your wall. I think you did a marvelous job on it.

Hey taboo, I think people just don't understand how much work, time and effort go into quilts. I gave my mom a Bargello in red, white and blue because she is very patriotic and dropped by her house unexpected one day and saw it on her bed with the the backing facing up. I was hurt by that but sometimes we have to just let it go, even though it's really hard to do

Oh so sorry to hear your gift was not appreciated. http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/smiley-basic/sad.gif My oldest daughter is like that. She was engaged on the top of the effiel tower, so I searched for effiel tower fabric and just the right contrast and made her a "Gracie" bag and wallet and tissue holder to go in it as part of her Christmas gift. She opened it and said, "Oh, I guess I can store junk in this". http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/smiley-basic/huh.gif I never saw it again. Then for her wedding I made her a "Mocha Merengie" wall hanging because the pattern was modern and her taste. Recently she was showing me thru her new house and there it was thrown in the "junk room" closet. http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/s...sic/unsure.gif However the rag quilt and other things her new MIL has made are displayed. http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/smiley-basic/huh.gif Guess I know where I stand. I am not even going to try anymore.

I think your gift was not only patriotic but thoughtful and made with love. I guess you try to shake off the hurt. I know it's very hard to do. http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/s...basic/arms.gif

You know I think we all have had that happen to us. But when that happens to me. I think of the vetrans and watching many of them be given a quilt and some actually
cry with happiness. If I were you, I would take it back and
give it to a vetran. Your cup will runnith over I promise you. If you look up Quilts of Valor on the inernet you will find one in your area. Just know you did a great job and your heart was in the right place. It just hurts worse when
it is family.

It is beautiful.
So sorry it was not appreciated.
No one can hurt us as much as family.

Nothing we say will make it hurt less. Just know, I care.
