Working on a Christmas present for my sister inlaw wanted a Wizard of Oz quilt. I just finished the top. Not sure what I will use for the backing. I am trying not to buy more material...I do wish I had the Yellow brick road and the wizard...Oh well...I will figure out something.

The blue is the same as the dress..this picture does not show it.

craftybear 08-06-2011 11:17 AM

will be a cute quilt

maybe you could trade with someone on here for the fabric you need for it???

Xstitshmom 08-06-2011 11:31 AM

You have somebody in your family that loves the WOO too! My niece has a big collection of WOO stuff. Each year she puts up a Christmas tree that is just Wizard of Oz. I'm hoping to get a tree skirt made for her for this Christmas.

Love the quilt.

great prints. that was one of my daughters favorite movies. if i had any of the fabric...i would give it to you. i also think it's a great use of the tumbler block. actual yours in this pattern is my new favorite. :D

BeckyL 08-06-2011 11:45 AM

Great quilt. I don't know if you noticed, or perhaps you planned it this way, but the tumber blocks with the words are all right side up with the exception of the one on the bottom left. If you wanted to turn it around, you could still do so now. Don't mean to sound critical, didn't mean to. Hope this was helpful.

I really like the pattern you chose to make this quilt with this fabric. Very nice.

jackied 08-06-2011 11:48 AM

Thats really cool with the fussy cutting. Going to be a great quilt.

Barbshobbies 08-06-2011 12:02 PM

You mentioned, that you didn`t want to buy any more material, well you could fold the quilt top to the size of maybe 18" sq. and then start laying it on pieces of material you all ready have, (enough material for the backing)and some thing will just pop out at you.

annthreecats 08-06-2011 12:08 PM

Love it.

What about blue gingham? Like her dress. I have some I would be willing to trade for.

carolaug 08-06-2011 04:35 PM

I used that blue dress fabric for the border. I am going to use my dog prints for the binding. ; ) the thought...Toto running all around.
