I am starting the thread for Round 3 borders.

Buddy'smom, I needed to get your okay before I continued on. As you can see, I'm doing a trellis border, with fabrics that will pull from the white and pale green -- and, of course, the outer edge will be cut and squared. I will also applique a few felt flowers like the ones you have in the center, and will try to incorporate a light shade of purple to match the second border. So before I cut the next 12 billion little pieces, I wanted to make sure this looks okay with you (and the others looking at this). If you need to talk to me, just pm me. This is a fun border to do, but I want to make sure you like it before I keep going.

Ok Sarah....Here you go.
I hope you like it.
The colors didn't come out too true, the purple is actually a darker color

SazuBMidlands 03-10-2010 10:58 PM

Wow!!!! Love it!!! :-D

tlrnhi 03-11-2010 04:24 AM

I'm glad you like it!
That's Courtney's silouette behind it. She says that looking at the picture, it looks like there are borders around the squares. I had to look again to see what she was talking about. It's where the seams are lol

Ducky 03-11-2010 06:44 AM

Terri, that's beautiful!

mamabird3 03-11-2010 12:29 PM

Very nice!

sandpat 03-13-2010 12:17 PM

Ducky 03-14-2010 03:04 PM

You know who is the last person to get it before it is suppose to go to Sazu? Moi. ****Bwahahahahahahaha****

BlueChicken 03-17-2010 04:35 PM

They look awesome! Both borders are perfect! :-)

I'm still in the planning stage (does that sound better than "i haven't started yet"?)

I know roughly what I want to do, it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be.

sandpat 03-18-2010 03:18 PM

Well...if I see it in my neighborhood...its "fair game"!!!

SazuBMidlands 03-19-2010 12:23 AM

How can I protect against that? If you're "in hiding" you could be anywhere!!!
I'll have to hurry up and send Funky Guard Chickens to your house to protect from any extra tops sneaking in...

sandpat 03-19-2010 04:40 AM

  You just send those guard chickens on in Sazu!! Just pm me when you need my addy :D

Don't worry....I'll be driving near her and if she TRIES to get it, I'll rescue it for you lol
I have her addy! :)

tlrnhi 03-21-2010 02:21 AM

Ok, center is going out in the mail in the morning.
I have to mail early so it doesn't either get lost in this house or packed up. That would be a bad thing!!

sandpat 03-21-2010 04:54 AM

Yes, that would be a BAD thing Terri!!!! There are NO centers allowed to get lost !

SazuBMidlands 03-27-2010 08:25 AM

Grrr - Terris centre is still refusing to talk. I keep getting it out and asking it what it wants. I've taken it shopping to two different shops. Just dont know what to do. :(

Ah well, will keep trying. Hopefully it'll talk before the next posting date :?

So Sazu...it didn't get all excited at the 2 different shops??? Hmmm...must be a tough one. I bet it will wake up one day soon and shout out exactly what it wants though!

Ducky 03-27-2010 04:15 PM

Sazu, I'm sorry to say that it was the same for me. I waited and waited for any type of communication. It didn't happen. I took Terri's center to a few different fabric stores, and yet, it still didn't want to speak. I finally came to a decision, part desperation and party inspiration. That center is an ornery one, my friend. You can thank Terri for that one.

tlrnhi 03-27-2010 06:31 PM

Ok, brain fart here.....this is the geisha girl in the window, right?

SazuBMidlands 03-27-2010 11:30 PM

Yes it is the geisha girl... I'm just wondering, maybe she doesn't speak English?

I'm starting to wonder if I'm trying to think too fancy, and that what it needs is more plain. Duckys border is quite fancy, and maybe I need something less fancy. Maybe thats why ideas so far dont seem to be working.

Terri, I know you haven't seen it for a while but do you have any thoughts?

I've still got a week or so before I need to post, and Easter weekend is more time off work, so hopefully next weekend I can get it sorted.

tlrnhi 03-27-2010 11:51 PM

I thought it was Geisha Girl. Yes, she speaks English. lol
Haven't seen her, or don't remember seeing it.
But, do what you want, fancy or plain, doesn't matter. It's YOUR choice!
Sometimes when there's a fancy border, a plain one is needed to stop all the busyness going on.

Ok, went and did a search for it. I remember the border now. :)
I think yes, a plain one would work very well........
Does that help?

Snugquilt for Blue Chicken

Ducky 03-31-2010 05:16 PM

I received Blue Chicken's center today, and I have to say it's more wonderful in person! Snugquilt's picture doesn't do her border justice. The green background is actually a brighter, deeper color. It's just beautiful.

So, I still have Buddy'smom's center -- doing a push to get it done.

sandpat 04-07-2010 05:38 AM

Hi ladies....I just want to remind everyone of a couple of things. As the tops grow in size and beauty, we have to remember that they do need to be pieced as well as possible also. We want all the quilts to be ready to be sandwiched and quilted when they get home...so please remember that it is your responsibility to insure that BEFORE you mail your rounds out....

The top must be square (please measure it to be sure) and it must lay flat.

Everyone is doing a beautiful job...if you don't believe me, just take some time to surf all the group sites...please help keep them all on track though by making sure your addition meets the criteria ...Great job everyone and have fun!!

I have the border on buddy'smom's center. I am now putting felt flowers together to put on the corners and "here and there" on the trellis. It isn't squared up yet, but I wanted to get some pictures before it got dark outside. Buddy'smom, I really, really hope you like it.

mom-6 04-13-2010 06:43 PM

That trellis border is delightful!

mary quite contrary 04-13-2010 07:01 PM

I love it!!!

BlueChicken 04-13-2010 07:23 PM

Ducky that is spectacular.... it will be absolutely stunning with flowers on it as well!

It must have taken ages to put together.

Ninnie 04-14-2010 01:58 AM

I love it Ducky!! What a wonderful addition!
You have put a lot of time into this one.
It is just wonderful

sandpat 04-14-2010 05:27 AM

Ducky, I think its lovely! I think the addition of some flowers is going to really top it all off... :D Good job!
