Jelly Roll

3 Attachment(s)
Well, when I started this I really wanted to try the jelly roll race quilt Loved the colors but was really not enjoying the big mess of fabric piled up (I'm quirky like that) Sooooo, when I had gotten so far I just quit.
Figured I would just cut it in half add a small border to each and be done. Then the "other me" (I'm a Gemini) thought it looked too plain. So I appliqued a few things. Still need to add the border on each plus will be adding some ric rac. NOW I'm excited and can't wait to finish these!!
Since this was just half the jelly roll I will end up with 4 baby quilts from one jelly roll :)

SewExtremeSeams 05-16-2013 04:35 AM

Well, your jelly roll turned to be the best I have ever seen. I too did the jelly roll race and did not like the results. I will cut mine up and use for smaller quilts. I like your creativity!

Good thing you're a Gemini, 'cause the "other you" had a great idea! The extras make it so very special ...

Me Gemini too! Love these and that's what I want to do with a jelly roll. Got the strips for Xmas 2011 (!) and plan to use some animal appliques on it/them.

You're very creative. What a great idea for baby quilts.

I'm so glad to see you did this! It's cute. :)

I've always felt that these jelly roll races and 1600 quilts were only half done, that the piecing was merely the background for more work that should come on top of it. They just scream for appliques, in my opinion.

This is one of the best examples of "making lemonade out of lemons" I've ever seen. I love it!!! And, kudos on your creative mind - whichever one of you had this fantastic idea.
