mpspeedy 08-03-2009 11:17 AM

Great job! Your ideas for the borders are right on!

mytwopals 08-03-2009 11:25 AM

Could maybe do a cross-hatch in the entire middle of the quilt. And I like the vines idea for the borders.

wichypoo 08-03-2009 12:09 PM

2 Doods 08-03-2009 01:11 PM

Nice choice for the corners and border!
Show us again with the quilting PLEASE!
SO BEAUTIFUL!
Someone mentioned a book. Was this pattern in a book?
Don't know if I could convince myself to attempt that many pieces but I would sure like to take a peek and consider it.

sewjoyce 08-03-2009 01:13 PM

OMG, that's awesome!!!! A black border sounds good!

Thank you so much!

I printed the pattern off the internet, Eleanor Burns on her show also did this quilt, but with a white background. It was beautiful and so crisp looking.

Kyiav10 08-03-2009 07:34 PM

Oh my goodness!!! 3000 pieces. What a feat! And it looks gorgeous.

RedGarnet222 08-04-2009 09:21 AM

My Goodness the is one bright quilt! It looks like it is plugged in on the last picture ... LOL! Bless your heart for being able to finish up such a labor intensive quilt with such bright colors ... I would have been cross-eyed.

So happy and cheerful a quilt. I wish I could do such a quilt.

Shemjo 08-04-2009 09:27 AM

WOW! That is just beautiful! And it only took 3 weeks! Amazing! Can't wait to see how you quilt it, I KNOW it will be stunning!

Harmony 08-04-2009 10:37 AM

Gorgeous! The colors really pop against the black! I don't see how you could make a mistake on the borders of this one; almost anything will look great because of all the color in the quilt!

jbsstrawberry 08-04-2009 12:00 PM

All I can say is WOW!!! That is absolutely fantastic!!! Perfect border selection too! You did an awesome job!!

Joan 08-04-2009 12:08 PM

Oh, gosh!

I've got to wipe the drool off of my keyboard,
my mouth just dropped when the picture came up!

I am in awe of anyone who could complete a
quilt with that many pieces. Not to mention, it is
just beautiful!!!!!!

Iluv2quilt 08-04-2009 12:55 PM

Thank you everyone! It was a fun quilt to make, I think I'll give it to my youngest son. I think he'll like it because of the many colors.

amma 08-04-2009 01:08 PM

WOW WOW WOW :D :D :D Perfect border choice!!!!

If it is going to your son, diamond hatching on the borders would look nice.... scattered treasure chests, maybe get an idea from a coloring book or clip art??? Yep, I said treasure chests....cuzz I'm not the one doing the quilting

Boston1954 08-04-2009 02:30 PM

Yes, black would set this off just great!

omak 08-04-2009 07:18 PM

An awesome quilt, a fantastic border idea. That is quite some piece of work!
Congratulations!
Job, well done! <G>

marla 08-06-2009 05:52 AM

OoooooooLaLa

zkosh 08-06-2009 08:34 AM

Wow!! :!: Beautiful!! :-) :-) :-)

hapytlk 08-06-2009 11:44 AM

You are right..it needs to be framed in black. Doesn't even have to be a big border..It is awesome. What an amazing job you did.

JoanneS 08-06-2009 12:59 PM

You've done a beautiful job. I think your idea of a black border with color in the corners is great - and the suggestions of variegated quilting in those jewel box colors sounds perfect, too.

Will you quilt it yourself? hand or machine? Please continue to post as you get further along.

Sew and Sew 08-06-2009 01:09 PM

I am in such shock at seeing all the work that went into this quilt and those tiny pieces that i am at a loss of words for the border..........it is fantastic.......

KittyGram 08-06-2009 01:12 PM

Holy cow, that's gorgeous!

JCL in FL 08-06-2009 04:20 PM

I'd go with the black, a thin one and then another bright one with a corner stone of black with some of the brights. Just a suggestion. It's a beautiful quilt you should be proud of yourself.

dizzy 08-06-2009 08:45 PM

I would go with just a solid color in the boarder.tha quilt is right up my ally if you want to send it my way.lol

kd124 08-07-2009 09:35 AM

Gorgeous quilt!! I love the black border and how you did the cornerstones. You did a fantastic job.

jdavis 08-07-2009 10:28 AM

it looks great. i like your idea of a large black border with 4P cornerstones. then you can do some pretty quilting in the large border with some jewel variegated thread.
I haven't read all the responses, but I agree with Klue. Or, if you were someone who liked to do applique, a twining vine (utilizing some of the jewel tones) through the wide black border might looke nice. Maybe.

jdavis 08-07-2009 10:30 AM

Oops! Sorry! I forgot to include my Oohs and Ahs! Great use of color! Love that you used black rather than white. Your piecing looks wonderful!

waquilter 08-07-2009 09:56 PM

This is really striking!! You did a great job.

needlehappy 08-08-2009 04:32 AM

I agree with most people a simple black border would show off this beatiful quilt to its fulless. Not as keen on the cornerstone idea. Cornerstones will not add to the quilt.

Cathe 08-08-2009 05:45 AM

I love the black background, and I would definitely do a black border on it next.

Nice work!

Sorry - I posted before I read all five pages and realized that you were done. It looks really nice.
