I saw a posting recently by Letia of Judy Mathieson's Marinier's Compass (http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-67981-1.htm). LETIA, you did a BEAUTIFUL job.
Here is my posting of the same pattern with a little variation. I really had fun making the wall hanging. I stared at the pattern for over 4 months thinking it was just too hard to make. But once I got started, it was not difficult and am so thankful that I challenged myself (it turned out not to be a challenge .... just time consuming). |
It is beautiful.

You did a great job on this contra costa cartwheel. I love Judy's patterns and I find her directions very easy to follow. I haven't made the Contra Costa Cartwheel yet. I am currently working on a queen size where I put a 32 point compass in the middle with handquilting that gave it 64 points. It is surrounded by flying geese and partial split compasses and then more whole split compasses in each corner. All reds, yellows and oranges on black background. The hand quilting is taking forever. You can see bits and peices of this quilt in these two posts. Although the second link is a closeup of the handquilting only and you can't really see any of the compass except for the very points of a couple of rays.

Lovely job. Alex Anderson and Ricky Tims' "The Quilt Show" just recently had an episode featuring Judy's quilts.

You seem to use a rather furry, fluffy sort of lining for your quilts...
