Here's my version of the juice can footstool. My grandmother made one when I was little, it lasted for many years.
Mine won a blue ribbon at the county fair. I noticed that someone else on this website posted pictures of hers earlier. I liked hers also. my patriotic stool patriotic stool closeup |
Thanks for sharing. I've never seen or heard of one before.
Pretty cool. |
Wow, that is so cool.
Now, how cool is that! Michele
Never saw one either ! cool how about a tutorial !!
That is cool! Where can one find the directions?
My great grandmother used to make these, and she gave all of her kids one. She never wasted a thing. It did my heart good to see that people are still making these.
why is it called a juice can foot stool?
You did a great job! |
that is way to cute, tute please.
There is already a tute for the footstool on here, search for "footstool"
it is called a juice can stool becasue it is made from 7 large tomato juice cans. |
The tute already on here is called "7 large cans and 2 days" I think.
But if you can't find it, let me know. |
that is really cool. I will have to look for that tute.
How cute!
Whoa, that brings back memories, my kid's adopted grandmother made them each one many years ago and they used them til they fell apart. Great job!
That one is so pretty!! Many years ago than I want to remember, I made some with my kids. Each one got to design one for his/her room and to be honest at this late date, one of them was just plain ugly!! But they were loved to death, even one of the cats claimed one for his own use, and used teeth and claws on humans who tried to use it for sitting.
Good re-use for large juice cans, it can be made with huge cans from commercial sized foods if you have a source for them. |
So Cute!
I just spent a few hours looking for a footstool for my son, found a couple ,but even at oddlots they were 99 bucks. This is perfect for him! I can't wait to start saving up the cans and do this for him!
I love seeing blasts from the past. I too remember when these were all the rage. Everyone was making them. I remember my friends mother working in a school cafeteria and everyone wanted the large industrial size cans they used there. She was everyone's best friend for a while.
I would love to see them come back. People need to reuse and recycle. These is a perfect project for that. |
That is way cool. I never saw one before. I'd give you a blue ribbon too!
I think this footstool is adorable! I saw this made years ago on a television show, they called it a tuffit.
Made these in the 70's, glad to see they're back.
looking good, great job and idea.
! |
That's what I find so-o-o amazing!!! Our moms and grandmas were "going green" LONG before it was fashionable!!! We should be much more like them and stop throwing everything away!!
Love your footstool!!! |
I had not heard or seen these before, what a great idea!!!
Okay, I did a search, but wasn't able to find a tute for these. Anyone have the link?? :?
Thanks for showing yours. I may make one. I need to search for the tute.
Here's one site:
http://sweetthingdesigns.typepad.com...oot-stool.html and this one's made from coffee cans: http://artofgreenrecycling.blogspot....footstool.html Great idea. I'm thinking you could make cute pin cushions from tiny cans. |
I looked again, go to the "search " button above and type in "Footstool" and then go down the page to "2 days and 7 juice cans"
That brings back memories ....My grandmother made these when I was young..

Look at how many times I tried to get my pics posted on here!
Wow!! A blast from the past. Although yours is much cuter than the brown polyester one from my childhood!
Oh that bought back some pleasant memories,my grandmother made them and gave them as gifts to her family.
How cute!!! :D
A long time ago when I was in Brownies we made "muffs" out of tomato juice cans. I forgot what we covered it with but it felt furry. I loved that thing!!! :D:D:D |
A hundred years ago, when I was a teenager in 4-H, we made these. We had to make boiled wool, ran it through some gizmo to cut it into strips, then made hooked loop tops. I remember the fabric on the side of mine was a dark gold, the top had a floral pattern. Long gone, thrown away I'm sure.
Thanks for the trip down memory lane! |
Looks good. My grandmother had one and I loved putting it on its side and rolling it around and my body over it! I'm 67, so guess they have been around a long time!
I love your footstool! My grandmother made these. I have a friend who made a booster seat out of tuna cans for her grandchildren, very cute!
My grnadma made these too- had kinda forgotten about it. Neat job!
