BRAVO! Hand quilting seems to be a dying art. I love to hand quilt, and only do it for family quilts. Unfortunatley, I have a UFO in the closet that was started 25 years ago that is hand pieced and 1/3 hand quilted. I'm sure my stitching isn't as fine as it once was, but I'm inspired to finish it after seeing your marvelous work.

What a beautiful quilt! Is she disappointed at having to wait?

What beautiful hand quilting you do. It used to take me forever as well. On average, it took me 3 to 4 years to hand quilt a queen. While I love hand quilting both doing and seeing it, I have way too many quilts inside of me that want to get out so now I longarm. I love all the motifs you chose for this, especially that border motif. It is beautiful.

I think that sleeping under a hand quilted quilt feels a lot different than a machine quilted quilt. I love the fastness of machine quilting but I love the feel of a hand quilted one.
Congrats, I sometimes hand quilt too, last one I did was with metallic thread (don't every try that) and it was a twin size for my son. Took me 6 months to finish and I eventually took it off his bed and it is in storage. It was made with Hoffman metallic sky fabric.
It was a big undertaking but it is so different.

This quilt, & the thought behind it, is BEAUTIFUL. There will be generations down the line that will see this & hear the story. That is so great! I also think your directions for glue basting are beautiful. SEW! NOW I will! try it on my very next quilt! Thank you.

Oh, my, you do spoil that child! Lucky girl, to have a mother willing to do so much for her!

The quilt is gorgeous. And I can absolutely see why you're waiting until she's grown and mature before you give it to her.
