Hey Joanne and Elle, you should both know I don't mind...how can I when I am guilt of drifting off subject more times than I can remember tee hee!!

Elle...I have been following all the progress of the IRR, there are some amazing quilts being put together, they are all treasures.

No wonder the Spanish ladies went gah gah...the little patchwork that is done here is quite errrmmm boring?? Did you go to the Shop in Torre, with the room in the back, one of the ladies is called Isabel?

Thanks K., I really feel I like the way this quilt has turned out now, if I don't like things I can't settle with them and it wouldn't have got finished...I like it when I like it, it's gotta be right in my eyes or it will forever haunt me lol!! I am going to use this to practice machine quilting on, lots of open spaces. That's when I can sort out some backing fabric for it that is.

I LOVE lemon curd, and I haven't had any since my last visit to London in '96. Please send a recipe! For the American gals who don't know what it is, it's like the best lemon meringe pie you ever tasted WITHOUT the crust and meringe!

Have just made some marmalade and got a lovely recipe for Lemon Curd made in a microwave, not tried it yet but can give you the recipe.

Yes saw ISSSSSabel as they say here, she is lovely and helped me choose the fabric with the help of some of the spanish ladies. They are not very adventurous with their work in there, but were very appreciative of the time and effort that had already gone into it.

Yes I know what you mean about YOU feeling happy with it, me too, doesnīt matter what others say, I have to know that I like it.

Elle

Elle

Sounds great, Elle!

Izy 05-13-2009 12:36 PM

Sorry Joanne, I forgot to include the recipe for lemon curd:

4 large lemons
4oz unsalted butter
4 eggs
1lb sugar

Grate zest of one lemon, set aside.
Squeeze juice of all lemons, mix with beaten eggs
Fill large pan with boiling water and place all ingredients in a heatproof bowl over the top, simmer water stirring mixture continuously, as it warms you will see a fine foam start to form on the top, as soon as this disappears, it's done!!

Pour into sterilised jars and keep refrigerated. It takes a couple of hours in the fridge to set.

Makes a couple of 1lb jars.

Enjoy!!

Wow - Elle sent me a recipe, too. This is great! I'll try both (just don't know how soon) and let you both know how they are. Both sound pretty simple. I have quite a sweet tooth - I don't know if I can wait a couple of hours for it to set!.

Izy 05-13-2009 01:25 PM

Oh me neither, as soon as I have poured it into the jars, out comes a slice of bread and I 'clean' the bowl out...it's called quality control, isn't it??

And then I hide it from everyone else! Guilty pleasures - - -

Izy 05-13-2009 01:30 PM

The only thing with this recipe is you don't yield much...but it is so easy to make it's never a problem to just get squeezing, we have so many lemons in this area folks (Elle for one) give them away, so this is a perfect way to use them up :D :D :D

JoanneS 05-13-2009 01:35 PM

sigh---now I'm really jealous--I've loved Spain each time I've been there. We used to have lemon, grapefruit and orange trees in Arizona - and a Meyer lemon when I grew up in California. Meyer lemons are the queen of lemons - you can eat them like oranges, and they made the BEST lemon meringe pies. The trees in AZ died when we didn't spend the whole year there. It is a desert, after all. When we're there, our neighbors and my quilting friends share their tangerines, grapefruit and lemons, so maybe I'll make lemon curd, and they'll share more!

Izy 05-13-2009 01:43 PM

We have all the citrus fruits, billions of olives, avocados, peaches, and many other 'different' fruits too!! :D

sandpat 05-13-2009 05:05 PM

Izy...love it what you've done! I think the piano keys are perfect...now are you gonna try doing the free motion feathers on there or just what???

I didn't get any sewing done today...although I did make Amish Friendship bread, visit a friend who needed someone to listen for a while, tilled the garden, replanted the corn and orkra so the armadillo can dig it up again, made dinner and now I'm pooped. I HAVE to sew tomorrow.

You did good girl!!

Mousie 05-13-2009 06:51 PM

well, I start reading a thread, and it ain't long, before my tongue thinks it's gonna fall out, if'n I don't talk...course, lol, my tongue ain't on my fingers...ok, so I ain't makin much sense so far...it's cause I would read a page, and it was so good, and then there would be a next, and read just got better and better.
Izy, you did wonders with your little scrappy 'fix'. I am so impressed, what just the right border will do for something. That is awesome.
(just a little fyi, I refer to everybody 'here', as board-ers, lol...well, i think it's cute  )
anywhoo, your little thread, with one quilt, became two, then got lots of opinions, then recipes, and we learned cultural differences, language habits, how to train men...wish mine would iron. I don't mind ironing my fabrics, but think of all the time it would save me.
woo hoo, got to make some lemon curd. I can just taste it,...mouth watering. Y'all have the best food over there.
Elle, we're not gonna be surprised by anything you do, right now, you got 'wed head', lol. So, think everybody would agree, you got a free ticket.
Me? I'm the queen of hijacking, and I don't do it on purpose...I just can't help it,...ummm, think I'm doing it, right now, hmmm, see what I mean?
It's one of my lovable quirks.
P.S. Patti, forgot to tell you, how considerate you are, to till the garden for the armadillo, lol! your too kind. :D

sandpat 05-13-2009 06:55 PM

Qnc...what choo talkin' bout....tellin' Elle she gets a free ticket when its her turn to work on MY RR???????   For SHAME....you should know better than that!!!   She must maintain her normal very high quality and creativity standard!

Now patti, Elle can quit smoochin on Colin long enough to do your border on your rr,...i think, lol...maybe she can't,...but the free ticket is for hijackin...you know, like jaywalkin. She can't be expected to get everything right, while she's twitterpated!

Izy 05-14-2009 12:14 AM

Sandpat...sounds like you had a good day, even if you didn't manage to get a little sewing done, now as far as free motion wonky hearty feathers like Barb did on her HD quilt....hmmmmnnnnn can I be brave enough just to go for it or leave that to the scrappy crazy logcabin seeing as thats all wonky to start with.... I have a few ideas for the big block for the quilting, but I ain't telling yet!!

Elle is so excited about working on your RR Patti, I am looking forward to seeing it in person next week at Class, I MIGHT even hijack it and do a few stitches with her, so a little bit of me is in there too!!

Armadillo's how fascinating, get a picture for me next time if you can...sorry bout all the damage, but I love to see wild life.

QnC you gotta be the most 'quirkiest boarder' we got, but I LOVE to read your take on life, you have such a comical way of putting it...you make me LAUGH so you keep on barging in, wouldn't be the same without you

You let me know how you how your lemon curd turns out....(oops nearly mixed up my 'c' for a 't'................

Had to look up 'campo' - in France we call it 'paysan' - BUT I've got an airer full of washing in the living room at the mo - it tiddled down yesterday and is damp today (dampo in the campo LOL!) And as I'd already put it on, I had no choice! Don't think everyone wants to see our smalls! Soon as they're dry and away, I'll do it, I PROMISE! :D

Haha, I read your second message before the first, but I get ya gal, yes I think we are in for what you got yesterday, it is getting very heavy and the clouds are building up, so glad I did my washing yesterday, AND I have just done some IRONING...I think I must be sickening for something.......

Time to play in my corner, but first I am going to give Gerty a really nice wipe down and polish my table before doing some quilting!!

All done wiping Gerty down...B is very close to G on the keyboard, it could have been a typo...but sadly no, I am talking about my sewing machine AND it would have lasted much longer

So what to do now...drumming fingers on keyboard, well I only have enough backing fabric in the navy dot to do the scrappy wonky so looks like thats the one for this afternoon.. except I ain't got hardly any tacks left for my microtack..drat!! Does that mean I have to resort to hand tacking ....grrrrhhhh.. nahhhhhhhhhh  I KNOW!!, SOD IT, lets have a root in the fabs and start something new!!

k3n 05-14-2009 05:07 AM

Gee...and I thought you were all down to earth country folks around here!!

I think it is more a case of overactive imagination Patti!!

Yep working on a WIP...got a border on, and now supposed to be looking for inspiration on here, decided to do my own RR on it

Kara 05-14-2009 07:50 AM

Love the second one. Think they both deserve to be quilts in their own right.

Izy 05-14-2009 08:15 AM

Thanks Kara, I have altered the first one, new pictures are a coming of pages back..

sharon b 05-14-2009 08:29 AM

Izy Love the piano key board  Really finishes it off ! And working on a WIP or UFO that is no fun... start something new, keep the pile growing , don't listen to that angel sitting on your right shoulder...LOL
