I fussy cut the leaves. I use a glue stick to keep them down in the positions I want. Then I straight stitch along the edges of the trees and free motion stitch the edges of the leaves. This is a very important step.. If you don't do this step and try to short cut the quilt will never lay flat. After you edge stitch all the motifs then you layer your top batting and backing together, pin, then free motion as you like. Put the boarder on last. Stitch as you like then bind the edges. I also enhance the trees and leaves with markers, crayons, pastels, whiteout,etc. Have fun. It's art. Learned from Sewing With Nancy.
