I purchased this fabric with the hopes of making a quilt but I am lacking imagination on how to use this fabric in a quilt. The campers are approx 3 inches high, the pattern repeats itself every 12x14 inches. Can anyone assist me and perhaps show a photo? This is my first post but I have been silently watching for approx 1 month.
Thank you. campers |
I would use it as a backing and have the quilt top some type of scenic block or panels. Maybe photo of places the campers have been.
|
Love the fabric....you could do a disappearing nine patch quilt. Just make sure you use the campers on the outside corners so they do not get cut. Please update us on what you decide to do.

Use some of the campers in the centers of blocks within the quilt. Jan in VA |
I would fussy cut the campers and incorporate them in a block. Like having them for the center of the block, and then have something like a grass fabric around the sides.
|
I love this fabric too- I thought about buying some but I have the same problem - what to make with it - so will be interested in the ideas you have. good luck..
|
I have a friend that purchased the same fabric, she has the same problem as well, she will be watching for ideas so please keep them coming.

That fabric is adorable. Who is the manufacturer? I would LOVE to make my parents one. They have had at least thirty motorhomes/fifth-wheels/campers/pull-trailers over the last twenty years. They buy one, go on a trip, then sell it... buy another one...use it once or twice... sell it and so on. They seem to enjoy fixing them up, using them a few times, then going onto another one.

You could take pictures of your family and put it onto the transfer fabric then place them in the scene. LOL! |

I would fussy cut the campers into squares and put them into an attic windows setting ... sort of a "windows on travel" theme.
I'd really like to see a photo of what you come up with. My parents also had campers and trailers and loved to travel acros the USA. |
I would suggest the book "9-Patch Pizzazz: Fast, Fun & Finished in a Day" Judy Sisneros. It's for big prints you just can't cut up.
|
Here is a link to a quilt made from this print. (The pattern is free!)

I would do as others suggested and fussy cut the campers and make them the center of the block. I'll attach a picture of a block in a quilt I made for DD. I fussy cut the bunnies to make them the star of the quilt.
Very cute fabric by the way! |
Welcome to the board from Southern California!!!!

I would love to see what you could do using this as a kaleidscope (sp?).

Go to Hancock's of Paducah web site. search for Happy Camper. They have a pattern on their web site with this fabric. They have the fabric too but I don't see one with a blue background, just white or gold. Is it blue or white? (your background) They also have other fabric to complement it!
|
Sorry wrong thread for my reply!
|
Ok, go to the Hancock's of Paducah web's site and search for Happy Camper. There is a pattern on their site using the fabric. They also have complementary fabric to go with it. There campers have a white or gold background though. Is your's white or blue? I have a friend that camps and would love to make her one! I could add boats too because they take a fishing boat too.
|
This is weird! I made sure I had the right thread that time (like I thought I did the first time!) but it still is on the wrong thread???
This is for the thread of large print fabric. Anyone know how to send it over? |

Welcome sewlo. You could fussy cut the campers, and then put colorful border around each camper and then sew them into a top.

I would fussy cut those campers and Rv's and maybe do a narrow sashing around each block. I think it would make a very cute quilt. Then try to find an outdoorsy fabric for a border! Let us know what you decide!
|
Use some of the campers as centre - piece for individual blocks, then put some sashing and border the quilt with the rest of the material.
|
I have that same fabric! I also have several of the coordinating pieces. I think I will use a nine patch pizzaz pattern? Not into cutting so many little fussies. Anxious to see/hear what you do with yours. The background on mine is green!

As a camper, I would love to have that in my camping gear. I would also use it as a backing. I couldnt cut that up.
|
Would it work as "Stack & Whack?"
|
I have some - I was thinking about making a stack & whack quilt with it!
|
years ago,(25) I made a quilt and curtians for our camper. Had to draw every thing, like truck with camper, trees, Mountains. I made a road that wound around, with a stop sign at the edsge of the curtain, road WENT BACK AND FORTH WITH HAIR PIN TURNS, made them for our camper, My dad used to sign "on the road again" every time we came for a visit, and he would ask why we wernt on the road moving again, LOL had trees mountains, Today you can find all the fabrics with every thing already printed on it, could have a cabin in the mountains, or a cottage by a lake, or campers just an idea, just fussy cut out campers trees ect ect fuze on back ground add bias road to go around. could make signs with fav camping places around, good luck!

How about fussy cutting, and using in assorted sizes of Attic Windows blocks.
