He'll love it, I agree with the darker boader & then see if you still want to use the stripe boarder.

Love the bold, in-charge colors of black and red and the pattern. I also agree with the others on a solid before the stripe. I would use black.

It's beautiful, just beautiful and I don't think you can do better than red/white/black for a man. Me thinks a solid or reads-as-solid black inner border (small, maybe an inch) would be perfect.
