Looking back at the original posted quilt top, after looking up an explanation and tutorial on the D9P, something I heard or read long ago came to mind:
A husband told his wife he couldn't understand why she bought nice big pieces of fabric, cut it all up, and then sewed it all back together into a big piece again. The D9P takes the process a step or two farther, doesn't it? After sewing the pieces back together, you cut it up again, and once again sew those pieces back together. However, it surely makes a pretty quilt pattern! |

I agree, darker boarder first. Your quilt is beautiful, love the colors, to me also retro... He I am sure will really like it as well. hmmm Senior Prom huh? :)
