Hi Pat,

at first I made LOTS OF plans: tried to draw a design on paper, threw it away b/c I didn't like the design any more AND found it difficult to keep the paper in place and sew on it. Then draw a design on Press 'n Seal and sew on it. Technically it worked, but I didn't like it so much.
After all, I roughly divided the quilt into four sections, marked those with pins and started from one edge and made my way to the pins. After having finished the first quarter, I turned the quilt and started from the next edge.
I don't think in things quilting one can come up with a totally new design of ones own. That's like reinventing the totally new own wheel to me ;-). I somewhere saw a pattern called Clamshell and modified it a bit, making my arcs more like bows or teardrops. This made it easier to connect the four quarters of the quilting.
My vote: Just go for it, and don't sweat it too much. Guess how I know ;-).
Clear like mud? If not, please don't hesitate to ask, I'll give my best to answer and describe what I've done. Go girl, you can do it!
Anne

After looking at it for a few days, I disliked the color combo more and more. Unfortunately, this required a trip to my LQS, but sometimes you just have to make some sacrifices, don't you  . This was my second attempt at FMQ with my domestic sewing machine, so please don't look too closely.

Still need a name for it. Any ideas would be appreciated. I thought something like Box Of Jewels, but not sure about it yet.
Thank you for looking,
Anne

OMG. Only your second attempt at FMQ. I should be so lucky. Guess if I could draw would make it easier.
Your quilt is lovely by the way, and I agree these colors are better.

I really like the colors you used, and the fmq is great!! I have yet, to try it, but hope too soon.
I think anything with the word jewels for the name would be perfect!
