Little Leftovers in the flimsy stage
10 Attachment(s)
I've been working on mini's in odd minutes this summer...so tickled to have 11 done...now for the next stage--quilting and finishing. The 3B's (backing, batting, and binding) are ready to go as well...all but the flying geese quilts are traditionally pieced. I caved and PP'd the FG....enjoy..
1. HST's 5 of them 2. A Whirligig 3. A couple of 4P's 4. 2 Flying Geese 5. A Log Cabin |

Wow! They are wonderful. You did a great job.

These are super! Nice assortment~~ :)

Love all of your mini quilts, especially the first one. Your work is awesome.
I am working on Farm Girl Vintage by Lori Holt. I was thinking of you when I was working with several 3/4 inch squares which is the smallest that I have sewn. OK, you are my inspiration. |

Jan, look how nice & straight OK's flying geese are :) |
They are awesome OK!
They are just gorgeous. Great work.
Some pieces look so small, did you have to handle them with tweezers?
all are terrific, hard to choose a favorite
These are wonderful ! I've always wanted to try mini blocks. Did you have a particular book you used for your patterns ?
Those are great. Have you thought about Quilt Makers Bitty Blocks? They are posted every month on line. Check us out on the block of the month forum here

OK you've already got me hooked on minis, these are just more encouragement. Love the fussy cut birds. And please tell me your secret to Flying Geese!!!! As Anne, pointed out (politely LOL) they are the bane of my existance. How do you keep them in a straight line? Awesome job as usual OK.
I am just speechless! They are gorgeous!
Beautiful jobs, Ok. Saving more scraps for you...a lot of KT that you like....let me know when you are ready for them.

Thanks everyone...miniatures are my favorite quilting genre...
Honchey..remember how much I growled about PPing in the FWS PC quilt?...guess all the growling paid off in the FG quilts. Jan, in EQ I created a strip of 16 adjoining FG blocks, started with the first goose, added the sky pieces, then the next goose and sky set until the strip was all sewn. regm..looks like I should've used the tweezers to pick off threads..and to answer your question...no just my clumsy fingers. katydidkg..no particular patterns...my guild "friends" save me their bits....my method to my madness is to make a bunch of 4P, 9P, or HST'S then decide what to do with them...I was tired of making HST'S and thought "why not make FG blocks with all those leftovers corner triangle cuts"...once I decided what colors to pair with the blocks the quilt takes on its own personality depending on what's in my scrap bag..the green 4P on point border with the music notes fell together so serendipitously. I was given a long 3" strip of this fabric and it matched so well..My 12 yo GD picked out the purple colorway for the one FG.. cjsews...yes I've been following the itty bitty thread..Honchey been trying to get me started on it...thanks for the invite... Kalamaquilts..I found the hanger in a thrift shop for 50 cents...couldn't pass it up Thanks all |
Those are beautiful. I especially like the second one. You don't mention what size the finished blocks are ????
The itty bitty thread? As always your work is fabulous my friend. i wish I had your motivation! I haven't done alot lately. I love love seeing how you put your bits together!
Where will these go? or are they for your own enjoyment? |
Thanks ChrisDee..the block sizes vary...the 4P's blocks finish at 1/2"..the log cabin logs finish at 1/4"... most of the HST's finish at 1/2" although the first 2 are big measuring 1" finished. I think the pinwheel HST'S are 5/8" (finished)..the flying geese strips each measure 1x8".
Not sure if I have a favorite, but am partial to the pinwheel...it was one where fabric choices and layout just fell together. |
Hi Rhonda:)...here's the link to that thread
http://www.quiltingboard.com/blocks-...s-t259348.html Thanks for your kind words, friend..your motivation will return..sometimes life gets in the way....you know your miniature posts inspired me to take my obsession to the next level...what I have learned over the past 6 years is mind boggling... My thought is to decorate my Christmas tree with them and let the kids take their pick of 2 before they go home...that takes care of 8 of them...then want to donate 1 or 2 to the local hospital auction in September, but the need to be finished in 2 weeks...thinking of sending the green 4P on point...not sure which one I want to keep... |
Lovely bunch of minis!!
Such cute mini's. Great job!
You have been very productive! Good work.
They look great, but do you mean they are made of inferior fabric when you say flimsy. That is what it's always meant when I have heard it used. I hope not.
They are wonderful- love your hangers
Quilted these will make lovely Christmas presents. Great job.

WOW, your miniatures are fantastic, especially with the flying geese, even if they were PP, they came out great. Keep up the good work.
Holy Moly, that's a lot of little pieces. Great job
You have been busy! Love the log cabin.
Great job on all of them!
Thanks G for the link. I'll have to check it out. I'm glad I could help in the mini dept. LOL It is my obsession too as you know. Minis are just so much fun! And so many opportunities to play with ideas.
I love the idea of using them on your tree. And letting your family choose which ones they want is a great way to use them! I've given my dils and dd hotpads years ago but that was before I got into the real minis that I do now. I might have to take your idea and use it on my tree! |
