:-D :-D :-D Here is what I'm working on now. An interesting pattern. I don't paper piece so I made templates and used those. I see I lost a few pionts on my center triangle, but this is just a wall hanging I tihnk if I have enough of this fabric left. HAve a look and see what it looks like so far. Huggies, Fay

First time trying this.

Lizzytish 02-19-2011 08:13 AM

Wow!!!!!!!!

Bobbinchick 02-19-2011 08:14 AM

I'm going ot use up what ever fabric of this that I have and see how it will turn out. I think I have enough for a dozen more triangles and I can use black or a dark blue for a background. I also have a set of reds in fat quarters and that is just what this is, just fat quarters. So I could be making it bigger than what I had planned to. Have a great day, Huggies, Fay

Wow! That looks as if it would be difficult even as a paper pieced work, but with templates - impossible! I love your use of color, too. It looks like a starfish. I hope you'll post a picture when you finish the quilt.

SandyinZ4 02-19-2011 08:17 AM

I love your work. The way the wind is blowing at my house today, it looks like it is blowing your windmill, too! Great job and colors are so flashy!.

Bobbinchick 02-19-2011 10:37 AM

I've got a dozen more triangles started so I best get busy on it. At first I thought I was going to have to start over on these ones I'm doing now because the angles didn't look right. They don't look right until you get to the 4rth or 5th round. Have a great day, Huggies, Fay

Is there a pattern for this lovely piece of art and if so where can I get one? The templates would be great to have also.
Thanks for shareing.

Bobbinchick 02-19-2011 07:14 PM

I want to see how this will turn out and if it turns out ok then I will show you how to draft the pattern and then make templates from that plastic template sheet you can buy from the Joann Fabrics. My templates I made I added the 1/4" seam allowance, but did not add it to the one end of some of them so will have to redo them. I just have to move the bloomin template over a little bit and I want it to be perfect before I share it, but perhaps I will after this is done. I found the instruction online some where and I think it was one that was on Simply Quilts some time ago. This pattern is the same one that sandybeach had made. I think that is her screen name, but I don't know her name she is a member of this board. Have a great rest of the night, Huggies, Fay Just went in to work on my porject and found the site where the pattern in and how to draft for paper piecing. Here give this a try.

I went ot the site and looked it up and watched the video and there was nothing about it other than paper piecing and strips sewing, cut on the bias but they did not show how to place the colors in the triangle on the strip sewing so I'll just stick with my templates. Paper piecing is for the birds if you can't get it down pat and I've tried it and it's a no go.

BizzieLizzie 02-20-2011 02:43 AM

Oh WOW! Love the effect you have created. Beautiful!

That is so 3D that I expected it to fly off the page. I kept looking at it until my nose was almost on the monitor. Unbelievable! Kudos to you.
