Why would someone create this? Why would someone buy it? "Boy, I sure hope the quilt store has some dead cat fabric today." No, I didn't buy this on purpose, but it came in a lot of quilting fabric I bought. My husband agrees it's the oddest fabric! I will have to keep it and take it out to show people once in a while. Sort of like a Ripley's Believe it or Not. It's an artist line produced by Michael Miller. Yuck. Trust me, the cats look sadder in person.

mzsooz 09-23-2010 06:41 PM

I think they were hoping they looked like Cat Angels but they missed their mark. Pretty sad looking. This is one cat fabric I WON'T be buying!

littlehud 09-23-2010 06:41 PM

That sure is different fabric. I wouldn't want it.

wolfkitty 09-23-2010 06:43 PM

Ooooo-kaaaaaaaaaay.

MinnieKat 09-23-2010 06:44 PM

That's weird!

Candace 09-23-2010 06:45 PM

Really terrible artwork. I can't believe this ever made it to the printing stage.

Quiltforme 09-23-2010 06:46 PM

You win ugly odd fabric contest!

SharonAnne 09-23-2010 06:48 PM

Pathetic. Must be the buyer was on something the day MM accepted this in his line.

Ramona Byrd 09-23-2010 07:02 PM

The only one I would even think about with dead cats is where they are romping over the Rainbow Bridge...and even then the memory of my own lost fur kids would kick in and I wouldn't be able to enjoy it.

Frankly, this fabric sucks!! And we're expected to gasp with pleasure and hand dollars to the LQS for them!!

This is soooo bad on soooo many levels. I'm a textile designer that work for Timeless Treasures, Northcott, P&B, just to mention a few, and never would I have allowed something like this to get past my office.I see things like this and I wonder why I'm still out of work.

shequilts 09-23-2010 07:11 PM

I'm curious to know who the manufacturer is? It might effect my future purchases. This is awful!
Karen

'Sorry, I just reread and see it's Michael Miller. Too bad. I usually like their stuff.

The selvage reads © M.E. Hordyszynski for Michael Miller Fabrics

I don't think it needs the copywrite do you? Hehe what do I win for the ugliest fabric? More ugly fabric?:>

bjnicholson 09-23-2010 07:16 PM

Uck!

Debo 09-23-2010 07:19 PM

I've seen some ugly fabric but I think this takes the cake!!

Candace 09-23-2010 07:21 PM

Janet don't feel too badly, I'm sure this is older as I can't find it online. I did find some other fabrics by this designer, though. And frankly, I'm not a fan.

purplefiend 09-23-2010 07:30 PM

That fabric is rather disturbing....

cjomomma 09-23-2010 07:35 PM

ALRIGHTY THEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHY?????????

daisey 09-23-2010 07:35 PM

yes angels look content usually these guys just look miserable..

lab fairy 09-23-2010 07:35 PM

Maybe the artist was trying to depict kitty heaven and it just didn't do it for you.

trisha 09-23-2010 07:38 PM

Wonder what it would look like as a OBW? I am not a cat lover so this fabric would not be allowed anywhere near or in my house, but this is really sad. I hope this person isn't designing for Miller anymore.

bearisgray 09-23-2010 07:51 PM

I think it's unattractive, but the cats all have open eyes - maybe the designer was trying to convey that cats think they are angelic - even when they are being brats. ????

wvdek 09-23-2010 07:58 PM

Just plain weird.

Hi, Janet - You know? The VERY first thing I thought of when I saw this post and the dead cat fabric picture, was how COULD they create this as part of a fabric line when your gorgeous zodiac fabric was rejected for publication, so to speak (not necessarily by MM, but by your dealers). What makes this acceptable and yours NOT? I just don't understand.
Your design was beautiful and a sure winner. This is not fit for rags.

Just my 2 bits worth.

tolepainter54 09-23-2010 08:23 PM

I must be crazy but I think it is kind of cute. Must be all the pain meds I've been on.

annieshane 09-23-2010 09:13 PM

You have my vote for ugliest fabrics. What were they thinking? What are you planning to do with us? I am sure there is a quilter somewhere who will do something fantastic with this UGLY fabric.

lucyw29 09-23-2010 09:17 PM

Icky, just horrible.

SulaBug 09-23-2010 10:35 PM

Their interpretation of Angel Cat's is not for me either!!

Naturalmama 09-23-2010 10:45 PM

I'm surprised michael miller would have something so distasteful. I would never buy/use something so horrid! It almost looks like a joke. A bad one.

KathyAire 09-23-2010 11:07 PM

I agree. That fabric puts the 'U' in ugly. Candace, you get the award and I'm afraid that the prize might be some more ugly fabric. If I had some, I would send it to you. But, all of my fabric is pretty.
I couldn't figure out what that white stuff was on the cats. When someone mentioned 'angels', I thought it was a poor excuse for wings. One has to look long and hard to figure it out.

I think Cheryl T. from Fresno must have fallen out of bed and landed on her head. Cheryl you are sick, sick, sick.

Thanks for the laugh. That fabric is a scream.

Edogirl 09-24-2010 12:00 AM

Oh...dear

But they are odd-looking cats, aren't they? More like pumas or cougars.

Or like an old-fashioned cartoon with an Elmer Fudd-like hunter. Makes me kind of wonder where the rest of the cartoon is...

noveltyjunkie 09-24-2010 01:18 AM

I googled the designer, and found this thread on page 2 of the results!

I was thinking the same thing ... as I saw the repeats easily ...

sewaholic 09-24-2010 01:52 AM

I don't think they are dead cats - they have their eyes open..........

redvette54 09-24-2010 03:00 AM

I'm at a loss for words. Looked at it twice, just sat here speechless.

moonrise 09-24-2010 03:54 AM

Definitely an OBW!

CarrieAnne 09-24-2010 04:34 AM

And I usually love ANYTHING with cats on it.........but even I wouldnt buy it!

magpiefeather 09-24-2010 04:44 AM

I didn't think it was so bad...but I went to quiltshops.com and searched "angel cats" and there were two other fabrics with angel cats.
Looking at the designers other work, he seems to have a weird type of art that might appeal to some.
Myself, I don't think it's ugly just unpleasant although I hope my cat goes to heaven.
I can't imagine what a person could make with it!

Rebecca VLQ 09-24-2010 05:13 AM

UGh. Sooooo not cute. Not.

Lynneander 09-24-2010 05:41 AM

What a sad piece of fabric. As the owner of two rescued cats, this just hurts on so many levels.
